I have a sneaking suspicion that the PP 7457 is not pin-compatible with the Pismo duaghtercard. The PPC 7400 was (IIRC) relatively pin-compatible with the PPC 750. Hence, all that was required was a remounting of the CPU and some voltage tweaks. The new 512KB L2 G4s use a different pin layout.
God is just a statistic...

The 500 and 550 G4 chips are the last Pismo compatible designs, none since will work. The G3 750 series are another matter, with 1GB Pismo processor upgrades on the horizon.

The Pismo is not and will not be compatable with any of the 745x series G4s.

However, PowerLogix is reportedly working on a 750GX G3 upgrade in the 1GHz range. Should be quite nice...
