Why do so many francophones seem to have a stick up there ***

I use to be proud of my French Canadian heritage, at least until I started learning more and more about francophones and reading there constant BS and lies and well no longer. I now keep that part of my life hidden because im so ashamed of how so many of them act. How many French Canadians post here anyways?

Unlike the narrow minded racist English. Yes we are also passionate and love to discuss things not shut up and take it like most people like to do in Canada. You rape my wife, kill my brother, kinapped my child and you will say these things happen and no big deal. You seem to like being Canadian Athens so why do you write off 10 million people.

Perhaps you could rewrite that when you are more calm, I don't understand what you are saying, and no worries I know english isn't your first lang so im not going to pick on you for it. Any time, i'll keep checking to see if you rewrote what you where trying to say or explained what you did say a bit better. Im interested.

Weren't you the one who found Paris' subway `easy to access' ...

Last time I was there, it was a mess, the designers of that maze should be punished

Her vision of the world seems distorted to me, the way she discribes Calgary is distorted, i have no reason to believe her discription of France is bad, I know many people that said it was a great place, but then her discription of all english being raciests is also distorted and by the sounds of it her discription of Subways might be distorted too.

Actually Monique, I am interested in learning why you have such a low opinion of english speaking people and of Calgary for that matter, would go a long way if you explained your bad experiences more then just shooting your mouth off every 5th post about how much you hate english and Canada.

I think it's the bad influence of those French genes

Seriously, French are so touchy when it comes to their precious nation, of their language, of their food. I find it entertaining at times, but sometimes it's also annoying. Maybe that somehow spilled over the Atlantic ... (BTW, I love France.)

French Canadians are even worse! They even make up lies about being opressed, denied rights and well they like to think of themselves as victums of things that never happened.

The stations are quite close that's a big plus, but there seem to be very little hubs. For me, it was a lot easier to get around far larger cities (Tokyo, Seoul, also Osaka and Nagoya which aren't far larger) than in Paris.

The most amazing in all this thread is how much time you are wasting on the subject.

Had there not been French, you'd invented them to get yourself out of your (apparently deadly) boredom.

It is very interesting how much time you waste on your complacence.

The Romans were like that too. Conquerors turned decadent degenerates leading the conquered to the Dark Ages.

In the meantime, I'll sit and watch.

Maybe if you met more of them you would understand something you do not right now.

So you have the choice:

1) stick to your ignorance and look stupid for a long time, more than any normal person would care for or,

2) you learn and grow wiser.

But with a zero effort, I understand this will never happen.

Yeah right.

What is the point of ethnic/racial/linguistic/cultural/religious diffamation? Why is offending people funny?

I am trying to understand why it is funny. Unless you are with friends whom you know for their tolerance to idiocy, there is no point in doing it with strangers, especialy on the Internet where everything is so easily interpreted.

Putting people down for your own complacency says more about you than the people subjected to that type of rambling. You give yourself a pretty negative treatment, period.

There are more intra-cultural differences among individuals than there are between cultures. The point is that as an ethnic group, we see ourselves as belonging to a general stereotype of the greatest superficiality. But when we watch the "other", the "alien", everything is bound for criticism.

But heck, then, we look at the finer details belonging to the "other", and yet, we fail to look at the details we own that make us all different from one another and just as criticizable.

Diffamation of others used as a tool to enhance your self-esteem shows only how low you feel about yourself and how deficient you can be in feeling good about yourself for what you are.

Why are Polish (or for any other group) funny? You can hear it and you know it is not true but true enogh to be funny.

http://www.polishjoke.com/

"Polish Jokes have been around for a very long time. Some people find them offensive, some find them funny, some don't. The thing is, most of these jokes can be applied to practically any race, color, creed, or individual.

Instead of asking: "How many Poles does it take to screw in a light bulb?", you could ask "How many idiots does it take to screw in a light bulb?

The thing is, these Jokes have been with us so long that we no longer associate the words Polish, Pole, Polak, Pollock, with real people, but only the individuals described in the jokes themselves. We might as well leave the name blank and ask you, the user, to insert a name of your own choosing.

Regardless of political correctness, many of our Polish friends find Polish Jokes amusing for the simple reason that they are funny (well, most of them.), and that Poles have a sense of humor too.

My personal Polish Joke favorite is:

A Polish man was walking along the beach in France. There are many beautiful women lying in the sun, and he really wants to meet one. But try as he might, the women don't seem to be at all interested. Finally, as a last resort, he walks up to a Frenchman lying on the beach who is surrounded by adoring women.

"Excuse me," he says, taking the guy aside, "but I've been trying to meet one of those women for about an hour now, and I just can't seem to get anywhere with them. You're French. You know these women. What do they want?"

"Maybee I can help a leetle beet," says the Frenchman. "What you do ees you go to zee store. You buy a leetle bikini sweeming suit. You walk up and down zee beach. You meet girl very qweekly zees way."

"Wow! Thanks!" says the Pole, and off he goes to the store. He buys a skimpy red bathing suit, puts it on, and goes back to the beach. He parades up and down the beach but still has no luck with the ladies. So he goes back to the Frenchman.

"I'm sorry to bother you again," he says, "but I went to the store, I got a swimsuit, and I still haven't been able to meet a girl."

"Okay," says the Frenchman, "I tell you what you do. You go to zee store. You buy potato. You put potato in sweeming suit and walk up and down zee beach. You will meet girl very, very qweekly zees way."

"Thanks!" says the guy, and runs off to the store. He buys the potato, puts it in the swimsuit, and marches up and down the beach. Up and down, up and down he walks, but the women will hardly even look at him.

After half an hour he can't take it anymore and goes back to the Frenchman. "Look," he says, "I got the suit, I put the potato in it, and I walked up and down the beach, and still nothing! What more can I do?" "Well," says the Frenchman, "maybe I can help you a leetle beet. Why don't you try moving zee potato to the front of zee sweeming suit?"

I don't think Poles are stupid but I like the jokes. I don't hate canada or think you are bad or coward or stupid but I like to say you are. I think it is harmless funny little jokes. If you say it hurts you I might stop. But then everybody get the politico corect thing and life is not natural. It is like vanilla. Like white bread and white rice. If I matter so much to you maybe I should change. Or maybe you can think how to grow the heavy fur over the skin. Or have good funny little usa joke.

You grow up with guys to understand guys attack for play time. Guys play fight to show friendly.

Little girls fight like the cat fights and is very nasty. But this what I do is not fight. It is play fight.
I want you to play fight back with me. You know little boy in playground hit the girls and made them cry? Well, please don't cry. Just play back.

I kick 10 drunking natives out of my hotel each night, I until recently use to take a bus that would be 50% native to work, and when I was in foster care my foster mom was native. I've meet more natives then most none natives. I spent almost as much time on the Reserves as I did out of them for 2 years. So im not being ignorant, im very educated on city natives. If im ignorant on anything perhaps its small town native reserves out side of the cities, I havent really been to any except for Cowachan Valley.

Simple you dont think its a little strange to hear a 14 year old Native bitch and complain about how white man took his home and raped his land, when there is no way in hell he is old enough to have personally suffered these things. They have a culture of victumization just like Black Americans. Why is it a Black American acts like a Victum all the time and Black Canadians live normal happy lives. Its the im a victum thinking. Our Natives, American Blacks, its the same story.

Heh, Im back again. Alrighty, Seem's B Man here has started another verbal war, Congrats mate.

Anywho, On to the original topic. Francophones seeming to have a stick up their ass huh, Well I honestly have to say, French Canadians are in general rather rude.
I am only speaking for how I have been treated. At work for example, I've had Franco's act like they are the rulers of the worlds and I am their slave on hmm.....too many occasions.
Why? I could not tell you. I think somewhere in Quebec, they are reprogramming people to be upright twats. I have been to France before, and the REAL French people are some of the nicest people I have ever met. French Canadians tho, Bah, I have lost much respect for a large amount of them (those that I have had an incident(s) with).

Now as for this "oppression", oh **** around, Some people just really blow things out of ?proportion?. Im not saying things didn't happen but come on, like Athens said, some kids grow up fine, hear a few things when they are 14 or whatever, then decide to change their lives and act like they are sooo hard done by. Get your facts straight then come correct.

I am not going to deny the facts you enumerated. What you need to understand is what is behind it.

I'll let you explore that yourself though. I did my journey, and although I can't claim to have the truth, I certainly woke up to a larger reality.

I will tell you this though: addictions and sexual abuse are certainly the plagues that may kill them all. But they're symptomatic of the pain they are still suffering from. These symptoms are all about the loss of control over their lives and the need to regain control as best they can, but of course, abuse is certainly not the right way. The First Nations are sick, very sick, and they need help. But it is diffficult to help if we cannot understand. It is difficult to pull yourself out of the hole, and the lending hand as to be a caring hand. But we cannot do miracles either.

You may deny their own historical report, and certainly First Nations are prone to exagerate facts their history, like any other nation, but the underlying idea of genocide is till present today. The reserves are not what they wanted, and you cannot just say: "we won over them, why can't they just accept it?" Certainly not as long as they have a memory and a living chance to fight it off.

Today, there are more and more individuals fighting to get a grasp and regain control of their destiny, and no, I am not talking of thhose living in the city and being drunk all the time. I am not talking of those who became business men and very rich for often, they are the most corrupted. I am talking of those who decided thay can try to heal their wounds and regain their pride.

But the journey is and will be a very long one, and the chances of success are very slim. Many will be lost in the process.

I am not asking you to close your eyes on the drunks of your hotel. I am not telling you to just let it go without a word either. Just consider them for more than the drunking they do. Maybe the best that can be done for those is to call the cops on them and tell them to wake up before it is too late. They will understand. They know they're in a nightmare.

I know 3 kinds of Natives. Western ones that grow up like any other kid born here. They dont care about there past and live well in society. The traditionalist which dont do to bad, they are trying to revive there orginal culture the way it was. And the victums that do poorly, the ones that just wont let go. Granted the older ones are real victums, but I wont accept native kids, and young adults who have grown up in modern time as victums just because there modern culture is of victums. If I wasent so behind in my work now I would explain more. Will later I guess.

All the French Canadians I know are very nice and charming people. Bit reserved at first but that is quick to pass. I can't help but wonder how people can be bothered with generalizations about a group of people?

Are all Mexicans lazy? Do all negroes smell bad?

I would like to say to the poster of this thread: perhaps you have a stick up your ...
