Encryption headache

I encrypted an external hardrive, and I have it open on my desktop (typed in the password). The new problem is every little thing I do, make a new folder, rename a folder, it says finder wants authentication. Is this from the encryption? So over the top.

No, this sounds more like a permission problem.
W/o knowing what exactly you did, it's hard to diagnose.

Now I went later and plugged these external mobile hardrives on the laptop, and the laptop did not ask for authentication every single movement like the desktop. Still super annoying!

Are you using different users and passwords between the laptop and desktop ?

passwords are the same, I think users name too, can't remember. pretty sure, still T,
the HD has been allowed in, and still very blip, folder, deletetion on anything the desktop ask for password crazy.

Are you running the same OS X in both desktop and laptop? Please consider this example..hope you will get to know about problem...
It is good to encrypt an external drive because it doesn't need any software. If an external drive is formatted with FAT or FAT32 file system then it is usable with OS X or any XP or Linux operating system.
