Lice. Plague. "The Pox." Bathing requires nakedness, and nice people just don't do that, at least not very often. The fact that wood smoke covers a number of olfactory sins is just not enough to lure me into going back there. I'd be iffy about going back 50 years...

If you do it, bring a gun and a few thousand rounds. The rest will be much easier once you display your dominance, which will probably be within a few days of arrival (once the envious men get wind of all the ladies jumping on you). When that first daggar-dude comes at you, BANG!

If you have time to prepare, you may want to study the ins and outs of your particular gun (so that you can maintain and repair it), as well as seeing if you can learn how to make your own rounds from materials that will likely be available at your destination.

A Kevlar/bulletproof vest will come in handy, too. It's extremely lightweight compared to the insanely heavy armor others will be wearing.
