Okay, five of my crunching macs got knicked from work, so is there any way of finding out the IP of a machine requesting data on my email?
Yup, theres a good chance they will scrub the HD but you never know. On a good note, I got 5 new macs that SHOULD double my throughput. ;-) But Id still like to go and kick some ass.

One guy used Timbuktu and AppleScript to track down <a href="http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&th=7030d28393e4cb3a" target="_blank">a stolen iMac</a>. (warning - long thread)

If you were using the team proxy, the proxy should give the IP address for future work requests. Display of IP addressess is currently turned off for privacy reasons, but the data should still be present. Scott manages the proxies, and could give a better answer here.

working on it
can you give me more info please?
Like the email addy, and whether you were connecting to rc5.macnn.com?
Also, if I can start tracking again, I'd need you to shut down the rest of your comps (switch em to another project, probably) so that their IPs are the only ones listed, if they are crunching.

Edit: I'm now logging all requests coming in to the proxy, including IPs.
Just give me the info and I can do a run in about 6 hrs (i'll do one per day, since each log file is daily, and I'd have to ftp it to my server to do the analysis)

Splendid, thx ;-)

Connected to rc5.macnn using [email protected]

I havent finished setting up the new Macs yet, but the surviving ones are running, and my Dual 1G at home. 62.30.216.XXX
Want me to list or email you the IPs that are kosher? Most are at work 192.168.13.XXX but these wont be running until Wednesday as here in the UK we have the Queens Golden Jubilee (holiday ;-) )

After your edit, do you still need me to shut off the survivors?

Off to a partee so wont be able to give you any more info until tomorrow - after the England match ;-)

thx again.

Ok Scott, it's been a few days.

Do we have them on the run yet? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Since in the UK it has been a public holiday from Friday to Tuesday I am not expecting any new IPs. Hopefully within a week we should know whether they wiped the HDs b4 selling them on the cheap.

It's a little over a week, but here's what I've got.
usern129.dsl.pipex.com is the hostname, which resolves to 62.188.61.129
that's the only IP that's connected.
I'm guessing that that's you.
Sorry.

Hi, I dont suppose you have the IPs logged for 11 June to 04 July? As you can see from my Participant History my throughput avg. doubles on RC5, and now it is back to normal... though i did bring two duals into my flock. ;-)
