Is there a Mac OSX equivalent of the Windows XP "Find Differences" in two files?

Hi!
I think that's what the command "diff" (in Terminal) is for. I don't know the exact syntax, though, but you can get an explanation by entering "man diff" in the Terminal.

I'm pretty sure this is ok, but if it's not, I'll remove it: The Developer Tools, which you can get freely from apple include a nice little program called FileMerge, which lets you compare files, and eventually merge them if you want. I'm not sure if it'll work if you don't have the Developer Tools installed, but give it a shot.

Thanks for the tip about File Merge. I've also found a wordDIFF. It seems there is a XP Find DIfferences under Tools.

BBEdit and TextWrangler also have this functionality for text files. The latter is freeware.

It's called FC. Command line only.

FileMerge is by far the best solution regarding the visualization of file differences I've ever seen. The behaviour during scrolling is also brilliantly implemented.
You won't be disappointed :>

FileMerge is a great program for comparing source code and such, but it has trouble with files that aren't in plaintext - e.g. binary files. Also, it doesn't display the hex code.
I remember ResCompare for OS 9 fondly. I used to use it to muck with Glider Pro houses, and assign custom values to certain variables that wouldn't have been allowed by the editor, so you could have fish fly clear off the top of the screen or have ceiling ducts floating in the middle of the screen. Sadly, ResCompare was never ported to Carbon, but it works okay in the Classic layer.
