I think all the iMac 24 Inch with Core 2 Duo uses double layer DVD burner. However, I am not sure if my is one of them. Can anyone help me out here.
That's what my stated:
PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K06:
Firmware Revision: Q609
Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipped/Supported)
Cache: 2000 KB
Reads DVD: Yes
CD-Write: -R, -RW
DVD-Write: -R, -RW, +R, +RW, +R DL
Burn Underrun Protection CD: Yes
Burn Underrun Protection DVD: Yes
Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO
Media: No
If this is a double layered DVD burner, what kind of DVD should I buy which enable it to burn double layer and is that's the 6.3GB one? I have no idea with double layer DVDs. Can I also use double layer DVD on normal DVDs?

The answer is in your post - "+R DL" - yes your iMac does burn Dual Layer DVD's
This means you can use +R Dual Layer DVD's like these :-
http://www.amazon.com/Memorex-8-5Gb-...2861880&sr=8-1
Dual Layer DVD's should play back on any DVD player. Most bought DVD's of movies are in fact dual layer.
