It was definitely a joke. And it was definitely implied that Kyle Reese was some sort of leader, maybe even THE leader like John was supposed to be.
I really liked this episode. Didn't see the apparent twist with Shirley Manson coming, and I was intrigued when it happened. Now, of course, I think the show is probably better than it has ever been and the rumor is that it's cancelled - ain't that about a bitch...

Okay. It was a joke. But all joking aside, I could get 15 minutes of fame if I'm caught stealing Obama's jacket. I think thats the point I was trying to make.
I think the only hope for the series survival is if the new movie is a runaway hit. The series is now poised for for a new jump-start.

I thought they made that an evident part of the plot a few weeks ago. She was clearly making a competing skynet which is why the "real" skynet tried to take over John Henry and why she took out the research plant that was making the Hunter Killers. If nothing else the writers confirmed that fact when they sent a Terminator to kill her.
There was no reason for any of that unless it was a rival AI rather than a collaboration.
What was surprising was that they tied Skynet back to the Dysons.
It filled in a huge hole as to where this other project began if it wasn't with the Turk.

I'd suspect the first turk is becoming / has become Skynet - the turk that became John Henry was the 2nd turk after all. Double grammar versions because the story is apparently poised to proceed in two different time frames.
Now we know why the Sarah Connor Chronicles sets are gone. Since the Zeira Corp sets were the only ones they still had, and Zeira Corp no longer plays in the story line. So the sets being gone does not automatically mean the series is canceled.

Wait, a second turk was created? I totally forgot.

the second turk is what John Henry was plugged into.
The first one was burned down in a house fire. I just can't recall any allusion that it made its way on to the internet or any sort of outside connection.

Assuming for now the show isn't cancelled, I wonder how much of Derek they're gonna have. If a lot, then that's disappointing. It's one thing to have dead chars back for a few shows like this, but it gets rather lame when shows are written so that deaths become meaningless. Heroes is the perfect example.

Confirmed. It's not cancelled. They're adding a new character next year in fact.

Seems like the ending was meant to lead into the movie whether or not the show was cancelled, right? There hasn't been a series that went back and forth between movies and TV like that since Star Trek has there?

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

How could it not be cancelled after that ending?

A pity. I wanted to see more of what Ms. Weaver is up to. Along with my suspicions about Cameron.
Then there's the other suspicion. Without John to anchor the resistance past Judgment Day, who became leader of the resistance? Well, who else has been targeted, especially starting at a young age? It seems unlikely, Savannah would have to grow up quickly. But that is such an interesting thought.

they'd just gotten interesting. Well, not Sarah herself, she was grim and predictable, but ShirleyMansonBot, JohnHenry, competing skynets, hmm.

As opposed to the season endings of House, Bones, and 24? As opposed to the series endings of Prison Break and BSG? Or Dollhouse?

The last season of bones was not stellar. I spent most of the finale thinking WTF? and
SCC end of season was pretty good stuff.
