I have a 26 month old G4 iBook, 1.2 Ghz. I think. Can I hook that up to an external monitor?

Thanks in advance!

Yes.
Sorry for the short answer, but that just about covers it!

Cool, thanks Sherman! I don't have the machine in front of me, what kind of video jack do they have? Will they connect to standard PC monitors?

You can mirror the iBook's display on a VGA monitor (external shows the same as the iBook display). The connector on the iBook is miniVGA; it either comes with or you can buy an adapter to get a normal VGA port.

There is a hack available to enable spanning, so the external monitor can show something different than the iBook display.

here is the link to the hack if you want to do screen spanning: Extended Desktop

Its like an extension to your screen.
