Hello ...
I just developed a thin white line that runs down one side of my screen of my iBook from top to bottom ..
It is thin but very noticeable ... absolutely straight ...
It's on the startup screen ... all the accounts etc ....
Is this a hardware problem with the display do you think ... or is there another possible solution? ...
Thanks ....
It's a replacement display already ... about 1 and a half years old. The iBook is about 4 - 5 years old.

I think it's a hardware fault, you could try getting a replacement screen off eBay and replacing it yourself.

No, that would not be the same issue. That's a logic board failure, this is an LCD failure.

Yeah except it does say the logic board failure could result in lines showing up on the screen.
Also to the OP: on the iBook, there were problems with the cabling between the screen and the computer that resulted in jittery video and/or lines depending on the angle of the screen. Have you noticed any problems depending on how much you angle the screen?

"lines".... and that's lines that move. He didn't say jittery video or lines going accross (logic board issues)... one verticle line down.. that's consistent.. that's the LCD.
