Just a heads up for those interested but forgot about it. Discovery is at the moment at 158 miles altitude about to enter the atmosphere.

BBC has live coverage online.

ah dammit, just like a woman. we loan her our shuttle for a visit to I.S.S. then take a few laps around the earth, then back to K.S.C. (where she drove off with it). nope, she probably got lost and had to stop to ask for directions........... JUST KIDDING.

back on earth.

Well, Eileen Collins is the commander, not the pilot. She makes all the calls along with NASA. James Kelly is the pilot who actually does the controled munevuors during flight.

Could you let us know when they fly it back from Cali? Last time they flew right over our airport and I didn't have a camera with me. Seeing the orbiter piggybacking a 747 flying at low altitude is pretty cool. I'd like to get some pics this time.

Not to nit-pick but the live "play-by-play" discussed the transition from automatic flight to manual control and the system got turned over to the pilot briefly but then full control was given to Cmdr. Collins for the approach and landing--It was her voice we heard on the com during the whole thing. She was cool and very matter-of-fact. NASA should be setting her up as a role model for the 21st-century Mom: astronaut by day, soccer-Mom by night.

Cmdr. Collins rocks . . . and she's totally MILF-y.

Very pleased that Discovery landed safely. Good work NASA.

? maybe tuesday. depends on how things go. your local news folks should say something about it. beyond that, got's me ? I've been on the beach and see it flying by. said to myself, well self the shuttle is back.

but I'll see what I can dig up.

on a side note. the ORANGE COUNTY CHOPPER crew made a shuttle bike tribute bike. I heard they were going to have it at the runway (K.S.C.) today for the showing. after landing that is.

if I see it, I'll definitely get some pics and post them here.
