I'm a little confused about the type of adapter needed to use a U.S.A. powerbook in Australia. Does the Apple power supply automatically adjust to the higher voltage and all I need is a specific adapter for the Apple power supply itself? Or do I need to purchase a generic 220-110 wall mounted voltage converter?

Thanks,

lw

You'll need an adapter to plug it in, but it'll handle the voltage just fine.
You can get cheaper, but Apple's world adapter set is quite nice. Used it many, many times in many places.

Ouch! $39 is a bit steep, especially since I need 3 of them. Where are the cheaper ones that you were talking about?

Thanks,

need 3? Dunno anywhere specific, but Radio Shack would be my guess.

just buy generic adapters when you get there. they're quite cheap - you can get them at the larger grocery stores (coles, woolworths) or at one of the many electronics stores.

this should work - Mains lead with figure-8 type socket. Just plug the figure-8 part into the brick.

you can order online in australia, the page also lists their retail stores.

I have had 2 Powerbooks purchased in the US and I live in Perth West Asutralia. All I have done is bend the pins to suit the Local plugs which works fine if it's a permenant thing. No problems in 3 years with the power adaptor!

The Figure 8 Power cable is the simpilest solution and can be bought at most electrical stores for about $5 Asssie.
if you can't be part of the solution don't be part of the problem!!!!
