Just curious.

I seem to create a new one at least every week or so.

The result? I currently have about 100 playlists, give or take.

You name it I've got it: everything from "F*** off, ***hole!" to "Psycho Sexy" to "I'm Going to Run You Over With My Car" to "Nyquil (Sleep Time)."

So, enlighten me: what kind of playlists does everyone else have?

My most recent playlist created this evening: "Calm in the Chaos," which features various mellow tracks from Pink Floyd, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Simon & Garfunkel, The Beatles, Elton John (Tiny Dancer, specifically), John Lennon, and Cat Stevens. I'm quite pleased with it. It'll definitely be a good playlist to play while I'm on the road.

I don't have many, but I a few key ones.

One of my favorites is a Top 25 Most Played for songs added in the last 45 days.

Cool idea! I did that, except Top 50 Most Played for songs added in the last 60 days. Love it!

Another cool one is The Forgotten. Any song you've rated 3 or more that hasn't played in the last 3 weeks.

I'm weird, I have playlists for each artist, so I have the same number of playlists as I do artists. I find it much easier to do it this way than to go through the whole library, even with it sorted by artist...

I don't think I could afford to have 2245 playlists.

Really? I find it easier to just search for the artist. But I have some friends who do the same thing, so it's not completely outlandish.

Oh, and Dakar... I actually have a playlist like that too =) I absolutely love smart playlists... as long as you have your music correctly tagged, you can have a lot of fun with them.

I have many playlists but never listen to them. I despise my taste in music, so I covet other people's playlists.

I don't do playlists at all anymore with my iPod. I have this thing about only having full albums on it, and only playing full albums

Which sucks, because I have a lot of one-song-only albums that I've never uploaded. I'm weird.

Before I got my iPod, though, I was way into burning custom mixes. Anytime I had to go on a long road trip (long meaning more than 15 miles) or was going to some event, I'd burn a mix. I have loads of them laying around.

I think if I had a shuffle, I'd put on random music instead of just complete albums..

You guys actually rate your songs? that would be an insane task for me. If some music doesn't rule and kick my ass - it's gone

I don't understand why people do that. There's absolutely no point to it when you could just use the Browse feature.

I've got a playlist with the last 500 added songs. A random smart playlist to fill my ipod and some assorted playlists.
I'm also in the process of building a Top 250 Ever playlist but it's not the easiest of tasks.

I used to have more playlists that used ratings and such but I lost all my stars once . And I'm not going to rate all 18809 songs again.

Just a few play lists. iTunes tends to break genres up in a way I disagree with so I created playlists that are more accurate genre-wise.

I have a few artist-specific playlists where I removed certain songs or albums from their lineup. For example: an band might have a holiday album and I don't want to hear those songs in May.

I also have a recently added playlist with 100 songs.

I don't have any "mood" or event playlists.

Don't use them much. One with all albums from 2006. One with never-played songs. And 3 for my Shuffle to choose from (one with most of the bands I listen to regularly, one with the same bands but narrowed down to only certain songs from each band, and one smart playlist of the top 3000 most-played songs in my library, which I figure is a good selection for the Shuffle to choose from)

OK, if you're not going to let me plead laziness, I'd then I plead ignorance. But now that you've instructed me on how to do it I have no excuses.

I use the Genre tag to label what language my songs are in. So, I use Greek, English, Spanish, Turkish, etc.

When songs are in more than one language, then I do stuff like Greek/Arabic, Turkish/English, etc.

I have way too many playlists. Most of my 14,000+ songs are rated and tagged correctly, so I use a lot of smart playlists.

I never use em. Even though I have over 3000 songs on my computer I find myself almost never listening to any of them.

If I am on my computer I am guaranteed to have iTunes running but it is always playing internet radio. I even record the radio to my iPod to listen to it when on the road.

I've always had a playlist for each band/singer, never even thought of using the search box. So I just tried it out, I typed in Green Day, with the artist column highlighted. The first song on the list was O Green World by Gorillaz, from Demon Days, the rest was all the Green Day stuff .

I use the playlists like that because I prefer to browse through the names and pick something rather than think of something and type it in, if that makes sense.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

I'm weird, and don't use playlists at all. My iPod and iTunes are almost perpetually on shuffle. I like not knowing what song will be coming up... the downside is I have to skip quite often to find whatever it is I'm in the mood for. Laziness, I guess.

Any ramblings are entirely my own, and do not represent those of my employers, coworkers, friends, or species

I agree about shuffle. Oh, I'm a skip machine as well. In fact, I use playlists to help decrease how much I skip (But it can never eliminate it...).

I made a playlist that lists tracks skipped in the past 2 weeks. Depending on how often I'm on shuffle it varies from 1000 - 2000 tracks skipped. My pickyness always depends on my mood.

I dunno how people can go without playlists. I have about 130 of them.

I make one for each album I have, and put them in folders based on the artist.

I have a playlist that my iPod picks from. Other than that my library is organized by most recently added and I play whatever I have until I get sick of it and then I get some new stuff and repeat.
