My 2G 10 gig iPod was down to about two hours of battery life so I decided to get a Newer Technology 2100mAh battery from OWC. Although the actual disassembly wasn't as easy as their video made it look, it wasn't like taking apart an iBook, which I swear I'll never do again...but I digress. Anyway....got the battery replaced and charged it up. I got over twelve hours of listening time yesterday and the battery icon was down to three quarters. I was scrolling through playlists, using the backlight just like I normally would. I think I can get twenty plus hours between charges now! My 2G has new life. If you need a battery or just want longer play time between charges you want this battery.

I would like to know if anyone with a 3G iPod has used one of these batteries. I still get about 6 hours charge on mine. If I could get it up to 12 hours I would consider getting one. If not I will just stick with the battery I have until it gets down to about 2 hours.

A friend of mine put a Newr battery in his G3, and although he doesn't get the charge time that you can get with the replacements for the 1G and 2G batteries, he's very pleased with the added play time. I think he said he's getting 12 or 13 hours of battery life between charges now. Seems like a good investment if you give your 'pod a lot of use.

I did the same with my 15Gig G3 iPod. I get 10+ hours or more of play time with it now.

It's mildly confusing to see the iPods referred to as G3s. . . I prefer the 2G, 3G, 4G format.
