I can't seem to get LogoutHook working in 10.4.2 using either the defaults write method or the editing the ttys file method. If you can, I'd like some people to test this logout mechanism. Here's how:
1. Create a UNIX script that does anything. Touching a file on your desktop is enough.
2. Execute this command in the terminal, minus the quotes, and changing /path/to/script to the path to your script: 'sudo defaults write com.apple.loginwindow LogoutHook /path/to/script'
3. If successful, report it here and put script in /etc and make it owned by root:wheel and chmod it to 700
4. If successful (i.e. the script executes when you logout) report it here.
I appreciate your help.
