hello all. I am not THAT familar with hardware. I have a mac G3, and the cinema display that goes with it (with the clear/stripey frame, the one that is like a tripod configurating, leaning back.

I usually have the computers on all the time. I came in this afternoon and the display was all like, blue and green stripey/static, but not flickering. I hit the monitor's button and now, in every other attempt, the monitor will not boot up. I mean, the white light in the corner is on, but dimmed. I reboot the computer and the white light on the monitor comes on but goes dim. the tower sounds like it is running.

is my monitor kaput? what should i do?

can you plug any old monitor into a Mac tower? do i need an adaptor?

thanks guys

steph

Well, its a old Mac so its probably a VGA output, so any VGA monitor should work with it.

I don't know whats up with your monitor, but I'd say its gone.
Signature depreciated.

Try plug it in to another computer around the house, see if it works then?

Also, check if the power cable is in correctly, because if a monitor is really low then the 3pin socket can fall out slightly (I have known this).

If its really old, consider getting a new one because it probably is kaputt!
