HTC may be looking into producing a camera, as it attempts to fix its
financial standing, a report claims. The smartphone manufacturer is said to be working on its own action camera, similar to those produced by
GoPro, with the camera believed to have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, allowing it to work with both Android and iOS devices.
A close source speaking
to Bloomberg claims the camera will have an "ultra wide-angle lens" matched with a large 16-megapixel sensor. Just as with other action or sports cameras, HTC's effort is said to have some level of waterproofing, though it is likely to also ship with a number of different accessories for mounting it to various surfaces or for deeper dives.
It is suggested the camera could be revealed at a HTC "double exposure" event on October 8th in New York, and may not be the only product on display. Another HTC smartphone is said to be making an appearance at the event, one which supposedly has been optimized for self-portrait photography.
