How does Apple address dead pixels? At what point does Apple replace or fix a screen?
Do the aluminums exhibit warping like older powerbooks?
What does Applecare protect against? What does it not protect against?
Is it worth getting for a laptop?
What is the real world performance of the battery? 3 hours?
Thanks
1. I'll leave that to someone with an aluminum PB to answer.
2. You have to have more than 3 dead pixels in a certain area before they'll even discuss the matter with you.
3. See answer 1.
4. Applecare protects against manufacturer's defects. So if your hard drive dies, or your screen goes out, they'll replace it. However, if you drop it, spill something in it, mar it, scratch it, or generally do anything that can be viewed as 'negligence' on your part, they won't fix it. AppleCare is merely an extended warranty. But it is good for the laptops. Laptops take a lot more abuse than desktops and that abuse can reveal manufacturing problems. So it's definitely worth it.
5. Don't know about the Aluminums, but my Ti gets 3.5-4 hours of battery life (and this is fully usage, screen brightness maxed and using the machine normally. If I'm just lying around surfing, I can turn the brightness down and get around 4-4.5.
So when are you getting a new PowerBook?
