It'll be interesting to note how many foreigners will vote in this poll...

According to Aberpyscho I am a FOREIGN AGENT (which he always types in caps), therefore I am not allowed to vote, and I shouldn't be influencing your decisions.

I welcome foreign influence. I mean, FOREIGN INFLUENCE.

Of course, I'll still vote for Kerry.

Nope, sorry, I cannot do it. Apparently if anyone says anything against the war in Iraq, or against Bush, then they are terrorist supporters who need to go home and hug Osama, or something like that. You see, I have (according to aberpyscho) a fuzzy filter, so I may not be remembering it clearly!

You will just have to make your mind up by yourself!

Kerry is a tool. But I agree with many more of his positions than Bush's. And Bush is an idiot, unfit for a leadership position.

I voted "Kerry because I hate Bush" since I don't particularly like Kerry.

50.00% Kerry
1% Nader (just like the Gallup Poll )

wow... somewhat disturbing how many "Kerry because I hate Bush" votes...that's somethin' else. too bad there's not that option in November

Interesting results, but since so many non-US citizens voted in the poll, it only shows how the election would pan out if were held here on MacNN. Goes to show, that even in this largely liberal arena, most people just don't like Kerry.

I voted for "Kerry because I hate Bush" not because I hate Bush personally (although I don't like him) but because I don't agree with his policies and I think the way his presidency is run is bad for our country. But I also think Kerry will be a much better president than Bush, and I agree with him on most issues. Don't assume that everyone who chose that option did so out of spite.

I did say in my first post that I fit into both categories. But frankly I'm most worried about the damage that another Bush presidency will do to this country.

Clinton didn't create the largest deficit in history.

Clinton didn't take faith over facts when making his decisions.

Clinton didn't roll back 40 years of emission controls and pollution standards in one term.

Clinton wouldn't consider a regressive tax system like a national sales tax a "valid idea." Our beloved leader did just this week.

Clinton was a bad husband. That didn't make him a bad president.

With all the internationals voting for him, it should. If it were just US citizens voting in here, the results would have been quite different.

Dunno. We'd never be able to tell. That's why such a poll in here is useless.

No, it's useless because it's an anonymous internet poll on a Macintosh discussion board...

Which makes it about the same as the "scientific" internet debate polls. Right?

The "scientific" polls are distinct from the anonymous polls like those on CNN's front page, are they not?

I don't believe so. Anyone can make up some garbage and then vote, it's still based on the honor system.

I dislike both but I dislike Bush less than I dislike Kerry. In my choice of vote I also look at who will be representing us as First Lady and Hands Down Bush Wins. Laura Bush has more class in her little Finger than Teresa has in her entire being.

First Law of MacNNation:

Any poll conducted in the Political Lounge is open to spamming, votes by people that have different nationality, and numerous votes by a single person, thus rendering their credibility and point in discussion useless. Never click "Create a new poll."

Second Law of MacNNation:

People who quote dubious sources aren't likely to take the criticism. Don't engage in the discussion of sources.

Third Law of MacNNation:

Don't mention religion. It will incite a flame war of massive proportion, especially by people holding double standards. If a religious topic is inevitable, be careful not to make remarks someone sensitive might take serious. Wear flame-retarded armor.

Fourth Law of MacNNation:

Identities are anonymous. You can pretend to be anything you desire and get away with it. People can lie about experiences to get a point across, act like they personally know the climate in a country/region, and never be questioned. If there is suspicion, it's likely that he or she is acting like someone who knows about the topic personally and trying to influence the discussion by keeping anonymity. Question their identity if necessary.

Fifth Law of MacNNation:

Reference of dictators is a popular tactic. If your actions resemble a dictator in history, even if it a falsity, they will keep saying it. If it is likely that the topic will head of on a topic regarding the insult, attempt to keep the topic focused on the referenced issue in the first post. If the dictator references become more frequent, report the individual to the moderators. If nothing works, call him a ****ing asshole who needs to get the **** knocked out of him. It is proven to work.
Point your attention to Laws 1 and Law 3.

Although there is no way to be sure how honest people were being, I was trying to determine why some people assumed that a Kerry victory meant that non-US citizens were voting in large numbers. I don't really think that assumption is warranted.
