I was thinking about the Macs I have owned, and wanted to see how the rest of you spent your computer money. I have always been a mixture of Macs and PCs, but the Macs have been my preferred platform for about 6 years. Here are my main Macs over that period. I had other macs over time, but these are the daily drivers. Many did run concurrently.

Performa 475
Supermac c600 (used to have UMAX as a client)
Powermac G4 400
Powerbook Pismo 500 (my first portable, and still one of the best)
iBook 500
Powerbook g4 400 Titanium
Powerbook Pismo 400
iMac g4 800
Powerbook G4 DVI 667
Powerbook G4 12" 867
iBook G3 900 14"
Powerbook G4 667 (non-dvi)
Powermac Dual 1ghz
Powerbook g4 15" 1.25 (on the way now)

Strange looking at the bouncing around of models. I loved them all for different reasons. My top three machines were:
1. Pismo - first portable
2. Powermac G4 400 - my first G4 and a wonderful machine for two years
3. Powerbook 667 DVI - perfect machine for me

Tell me about you

Mac 128k
Mac Plus
(Mac Classic)
(Mac LC II)
6400 AV
iBook SE (clamshell with DVD)
PowerBook 12"

Of course I love the 12" I've got now, because it's newer and therefore better than older Macs. But for the time, the 6400 AV was amazing. It had built in RCA video input, which was amazing for the time, and even now! It also had a built in TV Tuner and came with an IR remote control. I also used the Geoport modem in it with the old Apple Phone tool. I connected up an early Apple video camera (a decade before the iSight) and installed Connectix Digital Radar. It had Adobe movie editting software bundled (years before iMovie), and Apple's own Quicktime video conferencing software installed later (years before iChat AV).

So that machine was not only my computer but it was my TV, answering service, fax machine, scanner, security video surveilance (motion-sensitive recording), etc, etc. Great machine. My parents used it in their office for years after I no longer needed it, and it only stopped working late last year (hard disk problems, then power suppy). It's now being used for filling, along with a lot of concrete, within one of my father's rock walls near his vege garden.

I bought a 6400 around 2002 and thought it was a great machine. I never ran it as a main machine, but it was a small server for about 6 months. It was one of the few shining stars of the beige/Sculley era.

I'm still on my first-- a revision A 12" PB. 2 years old and starting to show its age. I'm considering one of the updated G5s that are supposedly coming out next week for college (starting in september) and keeping the PB for notetaking and such.

iMac Bondi 233mhz G3, 160mb RAM, Voodoo II upgrade (1st Mac)
Emac 700mhz, 1024mb RAM
Powemac G5 dual 1.8Ghz, 1.5Gb RAM, 9800 Pro
Powemac G5 dual 2Ghz, 1.5Gb RAM, 9800XT Pro (Favourite Mac)
Powerbook G4 1.5Ghz, 1Gb RAM, 9700 mobility

The bondi iMac saved me during my MA - a Quark capable Mac for under 1000. Before then you would have been looking at double that to do DTP on a Mac in the UK (all my college's machines were Macs, and cross-platform Quark use was a lot trickier then than now, so a PC was out of the question).

The G5 1.8 was a nightmare, constant 'freezes' as described so extensively here and here. Eventually Apple relented and sent me a replacement Rev 2 dual 2Ghz, which has simply been a rock since day one. Although I love the Powerbook for convenience, the G5 gets the gold medal simply for the way it steamrolls through anything I can throw at it.

1996 - Performa 6400/200
2001 - Powermac G4 867

Not sure what my Mac No. 3 will be, don't even know whether to get Tiger for my G4 or go as I am with 10.3 'til I get a new Mac.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

Machines belonging to me (or my parents, when I was still a kid), with names for those which were actually mine:

Mac Plus
Power Mac 6100/60
Power Computing PowerTower Pro - Jane
Power Macintosh G3/300 (Beige) - Yuzuki
PowerBook G4/400 - Canal
Power Mac G5 Dual 1.8 GHz - Majel

As for other Macs in the family which I've had to take care of at times:
Macintosh LC
Power Macintosh 6400
PowerBook G3
Rev.C iMac G3 x3 (belonging to various sisters and grandparents)
Rev.D iMac G3

An uncle of mine also had a Mac 128K, a Mac SE, and a Mac Classic.

And for all this, my wife still insists on Windows for her own machine

PowerMac 7200/120 - Excellent machine but 7.5.1 was a horrid OS, lucky 7.6 fixed that. Still running up until a few months ago when it just mysteriously died, but hey, I'd say I got my use out of it.

iMac 333 (Rev. D) - Tiny screen that started to make snapping sounds, later the videocard and power supply blew in an amazing display of randomness. When I got it back the screen had a green tinge to it. Decent speed, but limited memory (RAM and HD) made it get old real quick. Also the USB bus was screwy as hell. Oh yeah and it loved to freeze (but thats OS 9 for you)

iBook 266 - My highscool teacher sympathized when my iMac self destructed and loaned me the laptop until it got fixed (which was about 2 months ). Ran, for lack of a better word, f**king awesome.

Current machine is a G4 Quicksilver 733, I decided to buy it right when they came out since before the top machine was 733 (I know, no level 3 cache, whatev). Since then I put two HDs in it. The first 45 gig blew (an IBM I bought of pricewatch), and now I have an 80. I still run Jaguar and I have no real reason to change that, It never crashes, sans a few times while trying to set up a network with XP. I have a gig of ram, a 19" Viewsonic (which to this day still gets all sorts of compliments) and a host of other goodies.

The iMac soured me a bit on Macs, but I have to say that the G4 has totally wiped all of those concerns right off the board, quite an amazing machine IMO. And due to its greatness a few of my friends are going to buy Macs for their next computer, without me really pushing Macs either, they just see it run and are impressed.

Also I'd like to add the machine I picked for my father. G3 300, runs Jaguar fine, never freezes or crashes on him (couldn't say that for the 7200) and he loves it...in fact its the only link to the internet for me right now and I am typing on it.

Starting in around the fall of 1999...

1) Powerbook G3 266mhz - my favorite mac of all time
2) Strawberry iMac 333mhz - i think it only had 32mb of ram - sold it off right away
3) iMac DV SE Graphite - 500mhz - loved this machine - beautiful
4) iBook SE Indigo - loved the color - good little machine
5) iMac Snow - think it was 600mhz - another great looking imac - i still think the graphite was better looking.
6) iMac G4 - bought it a few weeks after it came out - awesome machine - maxed out the ram.
7) iMac Indigo - 500mhz - had to sell the G4 iMac to get some money for a down payment on a car.
8) eMac 1ghz - maxed out ram - fast machine but rather boring.
9) iBook 800mhz - maxed out ram - big hardrive - wireless - this is my current machine. i will
probably never go back to a desktop - i love wireless.

next mac --- 15" powerbook...hopefully G5 someday....or a G5 iBook someday

In order...
Some machines owned concurrently, so don't think I'm downgrading when a slower machine comes after a faster one.

Apple computers:
Apple ][+
Apple //e
Apple //gs
Quadra 605
PowerComputing Power 100
PowerComputing PowerCenter Pro 180 (eventually had a o/c'd 310MHz G3 in it)
Blue & White PowerMac G3/400 (presently upgraded to 900MHz)
Quicksilver G4 Dual 800
PowerBook G3/400 (Pismo)
iBook G3/600
1GHz PowerBook G4 Ti
PowerMac G5 Dual 2.0GHz
GigE G4 @ 1.4GHz
12" PowerBook G4 1.33GHz
PowerMac G5 Dual 2.5GHz
17" iMac G5

PCs:
Dell Dimension 1GHz PIII
Home built AMD Athlon XP 2100+, replaced with 2600+ & new mobo, replaced with 3200+ & new case (so, I've still got this "same" PC, though it actually no longer has any original parts)
