Well hell, what do I do now?

I took my new (refurb 5.0 gen) 30 gig vid out with me today and have kept using it all evening. Obviously, no video use and little backlight, though I change playlists occasionally, but it's been twelve hours and it still shows 30-35 percent left. What, oh what will I do with this horrible Apple product?

Better get a Zune!

Nice. However, the battery indicator isn't very reliable, if you weren't aware.

Actually, this one seems pretty good. I've gone another ~2 hours this morning and it just now switched to red though it shows about 15-20% left. That makes close to (maybe over) 14 hours. This is a 2005/06 model so that's just about right.

I better stop and charge it now. Too much iPod time makes you sterile. I'm sure I read that somewhere on ZuneScene.

I gave away my 1st gen ipod to my brother about a year ago. That battery is almost 5 years old and I'm amazed that he can get 5-6 hours of playback per charge.

That's interesting to hear (15 hours of battery life) I don't remember ever getting that much out of my 5th Gen. I regularly get 10 - 12 + out of my 4th Gens though. Anybody out there that can tell me what they are getting out of the new Nano's ?

Although it strongly depends on usage and charging patterns, some of those batteries have great longevity. My 2nd gen 10GB is nearing its four year mark and the battery still gives me 7hr. playtimes.
