Mobile me as free just to piss of Google... since they're making barely any money off if anyway.

new iPhone...

What I'd love to see is an iPhone to take on the quick messaging market. Basically do what the KIN is supposed to do but kick ass with it. Make the plan at least 20 dollars cheaper than an iPhone a month with unlimited txting built in, and perhaps a small allotment of data, and just watch the things fly off the shelf.

This thread’s surprisingly lifeless considering how close we are to WWDC.

-iPhone: specs we’ve been hearing, double storage at same price points, no mention of other carriers.
-No Blu-ray
-No news about Mac OS X releases
-Some kind of shake up to MobileMe. I’ve been wildly speculating all kinds of stuff they could do with it, esp. APIs allowing Cocoa Touch apps to access iDisks or sync with desktop apps. But maybe it’ll be something as unexciting as a price reduction. But given how much focus there is on competing with Google, Apple seems likely to start getting real serious about the Internet services side of things. And come on, what’s with the North Carolina data center, already?
-Maybe tv, but maybe that’ll come in the next few weeks. I think it will depend on whether/how much developers are affected. That is, I’m buying the idea that it’s based on iPhone OS, but I can'’t imagine how a non-touchscreen device will run existing apps. And they may not to manage another App Store for TV.
- Safari 5 and Xcode 4 sound plausible enough.

Just wondering what this thread would be like if the new iPhone specs hadn't been leaked.

Do last minute leaks count as predictions? If so, I predict a trackpad.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

A Mac Pro update that makes up for nearly a year and a half of stagnation...

An iTunes overhaul that removes The Bloat™ would be nice as well.

I'd like to see the new iPhone come out not just with iPhone OS 4, but with upgrade options for last year's 3Gs buyers (like yours truly).

I’d be happy with one just for those of us who bought a 3G S⃣  within the past, say, five or six days or so …

(Fat chance, though)

Seriously, who would have bought an iPhone in the past weeks, who also cared about OS 4 ?

Someone who had his old one stolen, couldn’t go without a phone, doesn’t keep up enough to know that the WWDC was coming up, lives in a country where the new iPhone would probably not be available till November anyways, and really doesn’t care all that much about the iPhone 4G to begin with?

(I expect OS 4 should run on a new 3G S⃣ , right? I don’t really want one of the new iPhones if they look like the Gizmodo thing)

I'm thinkin' AppleTV today.

Reason: My AppleTV started acting up on Friday. That *can't* be a coincidence.

As always, my expectations are high.

I expect:
1) new iPhone with all the insane features we've been reading about
2) new iPhone software (v4)
3) new AppleTV
4) peak at new OS X
5) free MobileMe

A new MacBookAir would be nice too!

Have you checked your upgrade status online lately? I heard a lot of 3G S owners were getting their eligibility moved back (i.e. earlier), and it turned out to be true for me. A few weeks ago, i was supposed to be waiting till October, but suddenly I’m eligible now. Which makes it that much harder to try to hold off until there are multiple carriers.

The trackpad seems like a weird thing to announce at a developer’s conference. But I doubt the source would have leaked it with such dramatic timing if it were coming a few weeks later. Eeenteresting…

• The new phone
• Nothing about Verizon (See you in 2011) - but nothing about AT&T, either
• No Blu-ray
• No 10.7
• Tiered Mobile Me
• New Apple TV and streaming online iTunes TV/Movie service
• Your mom

New iPhone, new tv (with apps), free MobileMe (that'd be really nice, since mine expires on the 12th).

I suspect you are right, but I want you to be wrong.

And yeah, I want that new trackpad. Hopefully it's not stupidly expensive. It will be expensive though, because it will be Bluetooth, and well, Apple likes to charge lots for pieces like these.

Your MacNN geek card has been revoked. Don't let the door slam on your way out.

I would have suffered for several months with my old Sony Ericsson T610, if it meant getting a 3G HD vs a 3GS this fall.

P.S. No comments on the trackpad from you Oisín? I think its rumoured handwriting recognition feature would be a huge boost for many languages not based on alphabets.

Yes, they said at the OS 4 even that it'll run with all features on the 3GS. BTW, how did you make the S like that?

I do. Blu-ray quality is awesome. Downloadable movies just don't compare in quality, and have no extras. I just bought two more discs on the weekend.

Then again, I have a dedicated movie room with a projector, and the quality difference is much more obvious than say on a 42" TV.

Someday I’ll actually download an HD move and compare the difference on my 40" TV. Netflix HD streamed via PS3 is certainly crap compared to Blu-ray.

Or at least a volume leveler like iTunes' soundcheck.

I'd also like to see more tab options - one of which is to force new tabs to open in the background. Holding modifier keys to do this doesn't cut it for me.

Prediction: Someone (this time not from Foxconn) is gonna die because of the network glitch at WWDC because of the hiccup in Steve's keynote.

Bush Tax Cuts == Job Killer
June 2001: 132,047,000 employed
June 2003: 129,839,000 employed
2.21 million jobs were LOST after 2 years of Bush Tax Cuts.

My favorite (read from bottom to top):

10:44 am Steve concludes demo.
10:44 am Someone shouts, "Try Verizon."
10:43 am Asks Scott for any suggestions.
10:43 am Steve apologizing again.
10:43 am iPhone 4 slowly barely loads NY Times.

I wonder if there's an API to make a video chat app, because I imagine that if Apple had it they would've showed it. Though the network had issues...
