hello gang,

i replaced my oem radeon 9800 pro 128mb to the mac se 256 version on my rev. a dual 2 gig running 10.3.6 with drivers supplied by ati and the thing is loud.

i couldn't hear the 128 but the 256 has a whirring pulsing sound.

is this just me or is this normal. the extra boost for motion and fcp is almost not worth it.

Mine isn't loud at all. Same card.

There's so much variation in how people report the noise from these little video card fans, I wonder if its due to different suppliers, batches, etc.

Consider replacing the fan with something quieter, though you might lose the adjacent PCI slot.
