WTF is this place nuts or what? I sign up last week and right away I’m treated rudely. The rude remarks by a mod named seanc have since been edited in response to my first post. Then I get a infraction for posting in the Paul Newman thread then another infraction for starting a thread that was locked. These were given to me by a mod named coldwarrior. Is my name similar to someone else or what. They seem to think I’m someone else. Is this the way all new members are treated? I feel like I’ve been jumped and mugged by a bunch of thugs after walking into a park and a straight-jacket and a gag hoisted upon me and kicked and beaten.

All I ask is WTF is this place nuts?

I'd like to know the same.

I am getting really confused about this. I always though ban evasion meant permaban of all nicks. Then I hear about some some forum-specific bans which somehow allow ban evasion and now I see this.

Dear mods, what's the real deal here?

[Disclaimer: Not that it affects me personally, but I think it's in the interest of this board if rules and prcoedures are clearly stated and enforced w/o exceptions].

Certainly not Rob, probably Dual/Atomic, maybe peeb (prob not), Now way in hell it's PacHead or Kevin or Abe.

The moderators list is deceptive. All Lounge mods show as pol/war mods, but that's because pol/war is a sub-forum. The only assigned mod for pol/war is vmarks.

OT: I'm still curious why this thread was left open, moved, and as the moderator who passed out the infractions, you have chosen not to comment?

I got a little frothy in my last post because I'm having trouble understanding how this does anything but drag the level of discourse down.

That this is open for comment implies that our opinion has some bearing on this issue (it doesn't), or that we could even pass any sort of legitimate judgement considering the aforementioned tight-lippedness (we can't).

IOW what is the point of this thread?

I moved it because it was in line with other recent feedback threads. Closing it outright would have felt like inconsistency to me, so I moved it to feedback to join the others.

As for not commenting, I don't like to comment in public on individual members. Feedback should be for general policy, devoid of personal issues. PM is for the melodrama.

The infractions speak for themselves: a veteran member signs up a new handle for the obvious purpose of evading a forum-specific ban and gets penalized for it. Case closed. Mods have the authority to temp ban on sight a forum-specific ban evader. I chose to take a lighter approach in the hope that it'd encourage good behavior.

I assure you, things weren't necessarily that clear from this side of the fence.

However, the type of comment I was asking for was exactly what you posted above. More of an annotation.
