I have downloaded version 2.7 of Skype but when I go to launch it the icon bounces a couple of times and then it quits. Same with version 2.6.
I am running Mac OS X 10.3.9 on an 800MHz G4 tower. The Skype forums are no good because you need a Skype user name & password to post on them
Any help would be much appreciated.

Are you upgrading from a previous skype version or is this the first time using skype?

This is the first time I've used it.

There's older versions here - perhaps go back and see if you can get an older version to work.
It's worth noting that your computer meets the minimum requirements to run the latest version of Skype:
* System requirements
* Mac computer with G4 800 Mhz processor or faster.
* Mac OS X v10.3.9 Panther or later.
* For higher-resolution video a faster processor (Core 2 Duo) and a broadband connection with at least 384kbps upload speeds.
* 512 MB RAM.
* 40 MB free disk space on your hard drive.
* Microphone and speakers or headset.
* Download drivers for your webcam.
* Internet connection (broadband is best, GPRS is not supported for voice calls, and results may vary on a satellite connection).
How much RAM and free HDD space do you have?

Thanks for the info.
I have 512MB of RAM and 11.4GB free HDD space.
I'm hoping to use one of the chat services on Skype so I'm not going to be streaming video or anything processor-intensive like that.

Open Console.app and see if it says something when you try to launch Skype.

I've found the Skype crash log. Hopefully someone will be able to make sense of this:
Host Name: localhost
Date/Time: 2009-01-14 06:58:00 +0000
OS Version: 10.3.9 (Build 7W98)
Report Version: 2
Command: Skype
Path: /Applications/Skype.app/Contents/MacOS/Skype
Version: ??? (???)
PID: 4917
Thread: Unknown
Link (dyld) error:
dyld: /Applications/Skype.app/Contents/MacOS/Skype can't open library: /System/Library/Frameworks/QuartzCore.framework/Versions/A/QuartzCore (No such file or directory, errno = 2)
Any ideas?
