I want to add some ram memory to a Mac Pro at my workplace. The Mac Pro came with 2 GB 800 MHZ. Do you think I can add this type of RAM to it? This is not ECC memory.

Also, I have red that in order for the Mac Pro to work properly needs to have all the ram sticks of the same quantity (1 Gb for example). Is this mandatory? Could I have 2 sticks of 2 GBs each and 2 of 1 GB each?

Yes, you can add memory that the manufacturer says is for a Mac Pro to a Mac Pro.

Memory must be installed in pairs, but you can have different capacities in different pairs.

Quick question, so I don't have to start a new thread....

I recently bought a used 2.66GHz Dual core Mac Pro with 2GB RAM.

I want to add another 2-4 GB of RAM.

Can I use this (which states it's for the quad core) - PC6400 DDR2 800mhz
http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other.../64FB2MPK04GB/

or do I have to use the older PC5300 DDR2 667mhz
http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other.../53FB2MPK04GB/

Thanks.

I think you can use DDR2-800 just fine, but it'll just reduce speed to 667 MHz in your machine anyway, so there's really no point. Just get the DDR2-667; it's cheaper.

800Mhz memory will most likely work in a machine that needs 667Mhz, but not always (SPD tables may or may not include the lower speeds).

Save money, avoid OWC.

Note 9% of 34 reviewers ranked the Newegg RAM 1 on a 5 scale. Personally that is not good enough for me either for RAM or for hard drives.

IOW, 3 people, compared to what at OWC? Oh that's right, they don't let users publish reviews.

Does that Transcend RAM have the over-sized heat sinks that are preferred in Mac Pros?

That's anecdotal. Also, people are much more likely to leave a bad review than a good one (most satisfied customers don't leave a review at all).
