This should be on the AppleAds forum but…it's still not running. Anyways, who here will boycott all news tomorrow until they can watch the Apple Event video as if it was live and enjoy the surprises, etc as Steve announces them?

I've already decided to buy whatever it is they announce, so I'll be setting up my tent outside the local Apple store.

I voted "Wait" but that is simply because I will be at work and will be unable to read anything online. When i get home from work I will do the following.

1.) Look at the headlines in MacNN
2.) Read the brief summary article on MacNN then follow the links to the Apple website for "more details" on the new device.
3.) Read up on the tech specs of the new device and the OS it runs on (still on the Apple website).
4.) Go to Ars Technica and get their take on the whole matter.
5.) Go to this forum and read the first few pages of the 15-page thread on the new Apple device and how awesome/sucky/over-priced/under-featured/wrong-sized it is.
One should never stop striving for clarity of thought and precision of expression.

I voted that I would watch news sites... I'll be too excited (even though I probably won't get one for a while AKA money) to not keep an eye on the forums/blogs.

I'll wait even longer to get the director's cut, so I can make sure I'm watching it how it was supposed to look.

Couple reasons I won't be: First, in my experience it's never that cool in the end and the wait is a pain. Plus, I'll be part of the problem live-blogging for Appletell, so avoiding the news wouldn't serve that well.

To be fair I did the whole "wait for the keynote video" thing for the last couple of keynotes where nothing exciting was released, so that colored my thoughts somewhat.

Funny thing is I've never complained about price, only the lack of video input on an iMac with a huge monitor, horribly stupid audio jacks, and the fact that a DVD player on a 2nd gen iMac with a 13.8" screen is totally ****ing pointless.

It's the viewable size on a 15" CRT.

bad poll options

there's a huge difference between wanting to get news as it happens and just waiting to hear about it whenever you get a chance sometime during the day.

In this instant they are the same thing. The question is "Will you watch the event video as it was meant to be soon, or get the news through a third party."

Doesn't Apple usually take 2 days or so to put the video of the event up?

I'm not waiting that long. I'm planning on spending my lunch hour tomorrow hitting refresh refresh refresh refresh on whatever live updating site seems the best.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

Wasn't the 2nd Gen iMac the Lampshade iMac G4?

It didn't have a CRT.

No the keynote podcast is posted by 7PM pacific at the latest (rather fully downloaded by then ). Last time I had to wait until Friday due to my friend having other plans, so I had a 4 day blackout.

I've tried to ignore news for the entire day and watch the keynote when I got home, but it's almost impossible.

I'll be following live feeds.

The "Rev. B" iMacs were the second generation of the original iMac, with an improved graphics card. I'm assuming by "2nd Gen" he meant "Rev. B." But I could be wrong.

why Apple isn't doing a live stream if Steve J thought this is one of the most important things he's ever created?

is it insanely expensive for the bandwidth and streaming?

Nope. 1st gen:
Trayloading CD-Rom, lines in the plastic, frosted shell, 233-333mhz

2nd gen (all new, shares NOTHING with previous model)

Slot loading CD-R or DVD player, clear gloss plastic, 350-700mhz.

Same form factor, completely different iMac. Third gen = iMac G4 Lampshade.

1st Gen: iMac G3
2nd Gen: iMac G4
3rd Gen: iMac G5
4rth Gen: iMac Intel (plastic)
5th Gen: iMac Intel (Aluminum)

That's how I know it. The web tends to agree.
