I've been searching the web trying to find the standard specs for the first (rev. A) Powermac G5 dual 2.0GHz model but can't seem to find it. Can someone please direct me to where I can find the specs for this machine?

A feature not mentioned in most spec's is the endless chirping from the PSU . . .

True. I had a softly chirping revision A 2.0GHz dual. But if I remember correctly, it could be "fixed" (or at least silenced) by turning off CPU nap with the CHUD Processor control panel. Didn't cause the fans to run any louder. The 2.0's were very quiet machines.

My second G5, a 2.5GHz model, is a frackin' hoover vacuum. Its so loud that I can't stand to use it any more. Even after taking it half way apart and cleaning it thoroughly, its too annoying to use at anything other than the "slowest" CPU setting.
It is, at present, sitting unused on the floor of my office. I did have it running as a file server, tucked away in a corner of the basement where I didn't have to hear it. Its utility, however, wasn't worth the hassle of dealing with networked drives.

I avoided Rev A and B G5's due to direct experience of friends' chirping machines - bought a Rev C which was so insanely loud in its chirps that I sent it back. (I'd also sent back a Rev A MDD some 2 years previously also due to noise issues.)
This 2.0 GHz Dual Core G5 is the first G5 I've kept. apart from the fact it went bang! one day - exploding capacitors in the PSU, a known issue and free fix - it has been a great Mac - very quiet perhaps due to half the power consumption of the dual CPU G5's, and entirely chirp-free. It has felt like a solid, reliable machine - the 8600 of its day, [erha[s, but is now making way for a |Mac Pro 2.66
I have to say, these Intel-based Mac's seem to have been pretty trouble-free?

How is the noise issue with the mac pro? Is there an issue at all? Compare to PM g4.

My rev B dual 2 never chirped. In fact, it is an altogether quiet machine. It is only loud during the summertime with the air conditioner off ... then the fans rev up, and it is pretty loud.
