Max Payne - with modern videocards?

I installed Max Payne again just to see what it would look like on a fairly modern videocard (Radeon 9700 mobile in PBG4). It runs super fast with all features on high, also let's me choose native widescreen resolution 1280 x 854. But I can't use FSAA (or the picture does not change).
- the video card is not recognized in the config menu -> thus no FSAA?
- what's the most recent version? I have a v1.0 on CD. No updates to be found
- any idea how I can start in a higher difficulty???????????

I'm pretty sure the only way to play a higher difficulty is to beat the game first. Unless there's a cheat or something.

I ran it with a 9800 pro on a dual 1.33g4, at 1680x1050 high quality everything. FSAA didn't work from within the game, but the ATI control panel allowed me to set that game to do 2x FSAA.

Good idea. ATI Displays 4.5.7 (Dec 2005) seems to be the latest one - I guess it works now, i tuned up Anisotropic filtering as well... :-)

You DO have to beat each level in order to gain access to the next higher skill level.
"New York Minute" will be the most challenging to you, as a timer is set for you to get through each part of the game.

Depends on the resolution, obviously. IF you play at a super high res, the FSAA isn't going to make a massive difference. If you play at 800X600, FSAA will make a drastic difference.

Since I had to run the game scaled down on the G3, it's a huge difference now. But I give most of the credit to the texture quality=max and the 16x Anisotropic filtering on them!
