Is there a way to connect the macbook pro to the iphones data connection?

I'm afraid not without jailbreaking.. that sort of convenient integration is beyond Apple, reserved for BlackBerries and Windows machines.

Tethering is a very popular request. Unfortunately neither Apple not AT&T want you doing that on your iPhone. But that doesn't mean you can't.

All you have to do is jailbreak your iPhone and install a proxy server. It's quite easy actually and works just fine. You can find exact instructions on how to do it here.

Not seeing any reference to the 2.0 firmware. Is this still a viable method for that firmware or are you limited to 1.1?
