The iPhone Mail App on my home screen always displays the number of unread messages in my inbox even after I have read them (the little red circles with numbers in them). After I read the messages and return to my home screen the number remains unchanged. Even after days of using my phone the number never goes away, even if I have read all the messages in my inbox.

Does anyone have a fix for this?

Are the messages actually marked read if you go back into your Inbox and take a look at them? Sometimes mine mark themselves as unread even if I have read them. Really annoying... Windows Mobile does the same thing, though.

No the messages are still marked unread. The number doesn't seem to correlate with the messages in my inbox.
