The more people that do this, the less likely that we'll see a Canadian Apple Store in the near future. Just a thought.
I'm as pro-canadian a consumer as the next guy. I dont mind choosing Rona over HomeDepot even it means spending an extra $5-$10 on a drill but when were talking about saving $500 or more, sheeesh, I call that being a smart consumer.

I wonder if the Apple Store Canada or Canadian Apple retailers have lowered prices to reflect the recent upsurge in the Canadian dollar? The 17" costs (retail) about $450 CDN less than it did a couple of months ago.
Somehow I doubt it. The current exchange rate makes cross boder shopping even more attractive.

I was just going to comment on this - Our dollar is rising mighty high, and I have never seen Apple change a price unless the US price changes. So as it is, a 30GB iPod in Canada is $749. If you take the price from Apple retail store ($499) and convet it, thats $710, so thats $40. If you look at a 17", its $3299 US or $5299 CDN. Convert the US price and you get $4692, thats $600!! Thats nearly an iPod! I think something has to be done, maybe I'll email Apple and see what they say.
As it stands all prices are calculated based on the time of introduction - hence why the Black keyboard is a few dollars cheaper the white.

Don't forget to factor in the taxes too! That makes those numbers even more rediculous.

Whew ...
That's a big difference. Almost makes you wish the Canadian dollar would start to drop again
Cheers!

I don't think that taxes can be fairly added to the comparison. That would imply that the services we (in Canada) receive for the tax dollar are equivalent to those received in the United States.

To choose doubt as a philosophy of life is akin to choosing immobility as a means of transportation.

Rumor has it that CSC has them in stock now, and other stores will have them in quantity by the end of the week.
Go for it!
Myself, I've decided to see what happens with the 15" before I leap.
Cheers!
