You know, this is wrong. "NSFW" is usally for, you know, ADULT stuff. This should be removed immediately. I had to clear my cache and my history because of this, and then turn off images so I could come back here and post. Thanks, dumbass.

I think you guys are overreacting. Some kid was obviously taking a bath, found some maxi pads, and went to town 'decorating' himself. I

ITS ****ING FUNNY.

There is NOTHING sexual about it, so quit projecting bullshit politically correct 'save the children from everything' crap onto this. Kids are naked OFTEN. They take baths, and get into ****. This is just an example of what a kid did that was really funny.

I remember when I was little (less than 5), I wanted pubes pretty bad for some reason, so I took cotton balls and scotch tape and taped them to my balls. I then ran outside when a bunch of family was over, proud of what I had accomplished. Apparently everybody just about died laughing.

Maybe it's OK where YOU work, but that doesn't mean it's OK for everyone. Like I said, nobody, and I mean NOBODY on NN so far as I know posted a "NSFW" thread with pics of a kid. That's just wrong. Dead wrong. The fact that it said "borderline" in it and wound up being a pic of a kid should clue YOU in to the fact that it probably shouldn't have been posted at all.

Sorry, but I expected a pic of an adult.

A sys admin who actually monitors this stuff and is so diligent he came to talk to you within about 16 minutes (judging by your posts) of your clicking, given the context of the website in question and your prior browsing history (MacNN forums) this morning? I don't buy it.

Regardless, I'd be more worried that I had been caught browsing MacNN forums all morning (read as: not working) rather than opening this harmless, somewhat funny and definitely non-sexual picture.

That being said, I totally disagree with people who post pictures like this of their kids on the Internet, especially with other personally identifiable information (name: Melissa, pic of herself, email address). Once it's on the Internet, it's on the Internet for good; infinitely reproduceable, transmittable and storable. I'd hate to see this come back to haunt this kid in high school. Kids can be so cruel.

Buy it or not, I got the "uh, Mike, can I talk to you?" from him. I don't give a flying f*ck if you buy it or not, it happened.

And this is why I don't post pics of my kids on the net.

Most places object more strongly to pedophilia than they do to a guy looking at Mischa Barton's nipple popping out or whatever. (And no, this isn't kiddie porn, but people view any nudity by kids as porn.)

Good lord, I'm not aruging about what the masses think or in favor of any kind of "kiddie porn" whatsoever, but what could POSSIBLY be titillating to anyone about this picture?! This is PC run amok and even I as a die-hard, bleeding heart liberal think so!

I don't think he was calling this image kiddie porn, but was making a separate, probably truthful statement.

Do you realize that there's not this one 'work' where everybody goes. Some places are more strict than others. Although if your place is fairly strict you should probably stay away from NSFW threads.

That's because most people DON'T sexualize children. Some kid got into his Mom's maxi-pads and found out that you can make them stick to you. BFD! I think it is hilarious and it is certainly NOT sexual.

I mean come on, when I laugh at my two-year-old niece running around with no pants on becuase she got away from me when I was changing a diaper--she's gotten quick since she fully mastered walking--does that make me a perv of some kind? What if someone posted a picture of a naked child playing in the tub or a backyard pool? Is that somehow dirty or "pornographic"? Heck, my Mom's got a picture of me and my friend playing in the tub when we about four. We were playing with our toy ships--I had a cool submarine--and we were naked becuase it was play during our bath time. Is that porn? is that kiddie porn? Is that homoerotic kiddie porn?

The only people who see this as somehow sexual, hence making it inappropriate, need to think about How or Why they see this as sexual.
One should never stop striving for clarity of thought and precision of expression.
I would prefer my humanity sullied with the tarnish of science rather than the gloss of religion.

The fact is that in this day and age, anyone could see something like this as REMOTELY inappropriate. Great, you think it's funny. My company doesn't. I think a little responsibility should be taken when it comes to minors.

The only people who see this as somehow sexual, hence making it inappropriate, need to think about How or Why they see this as sexual.
ANd what are you trying to say here? I'm just trying to protect myself. If I saw this at home, I might have actually laughed at it. Instead, I saw it at work and went "oh, F---!" and sure enough, someone came to talk to me about it.

I think some people are a bit sensitive to this sort of stuff. I'd be willing to be it's not really a religious thing, as SWG and I are probably as far apart as anyone on this board, and we both felt uncomfortable after seeing it. I guess it just depends on the person.

Does it turn you on? Because I'm not seeing any valid reason to call it porn. It doesn't seem intended to sexually titillate, which is one of the accepted standards for whether something is porn.

Separate question: Is porn defined simply by the intentions of the photographer/subject?

See, here's the thing. I have two little girls. I don't post pics of them on the net because of crap like this. There's this one pic of my daughter where she has no pants on and she's trying to reach for something in the sink. All you see is her rear, and it's damn funny TO ME because I'm her father, but there's NO WAY IN HELL I'd post it on the internet because I don't know how other people will see it.
