Are there any limitations to adding a 200-300GB IDE hard drive (non-serial ata) to a PowerMac G3 300Mhz box?

Wanna double check before I plop my $ down.

Thanks!

You will only be able to use the first 137 gigs of the drive.

Ugh... is that a hardware limitation or a limitation in the OS?

The box has Jaguar on it, and all in all, it runs really well.

It's a hardware limitation. You could get an ata133 controller or any other controller that has 48 bit addressing.

Western Digital gives you an ATA Card with each 200 gig HD. I bought a 200 from Dell.com and I was happily surprised with a free ATA card. I've yet to try it out under 10.2 on my beige server. Some stuff I read on xlr8yourmac.com is giveing me hope.

Long story short, if you have a free PCI slot, you may be in luck.
