Can anyone confirm, or deny, if the shuffle will charge on USB 1.1? i've got an eMac with 1.1 and want to make sure that i will be able to charge my battery & move music successfully? i know that it will be SLOOOOW, but is it possible to do?

It should! I've heard stories of people charging full-sized iPods w/ USB1.1.
5G 60GB video iPod
512MB iPod Shuffle
Westone UM1 Canalphones

do you like your shuffle? how does it compare to your 5G? or is there no comparison as they are very different machines?

It will charge from the USB port on your eMac.

There have been quite some discussions in the past about charging an iPod when the Mac's sleeping. On some models you can charge even when the Mac's asleep, on others charging stops when sleep starts. Just keep it in mind if you ever think your shuffle isn't charging.

If that happens you can always get an externally powered usb hub. The iPod will charge then independendly of you eMacs sleep state.
