Today, Jan. 29, 2008, Bad to the Bone has 2 of the top 5 computers on Seti@home. That is fantastic. Way to go!
p.s. He happens to be using A. Kan's optimized application. Way to go Alex.

he is also cherry picking the nicest work units and ditching thousands of others...making him unique in the top 20
even though there arent rules against that in boinc , i reckon its pretty bad behaviour, and makes the top 20 an unrepresentative place
also it makes people think that all mac users are cheats :-(
if alex kan wanted his worker to ditch all but the richest pickings he would have coded it that way :-)

I think it's more..... impolite, than cheating. Aren't we all Mac users cheating by running Seti rather than other Boinc projects? I do that! Why do they give credits anyway? Cheating would be using a higher multiplier or something nefarious like that. Is overclocking cheating? If BttB wants to spend all that time ditching thousands of work units for others to do, then it doesn't bother me. He is still doing tons of work units and getting credit honestly for them.
It's more of a crime that so many Mac users aren't using Alex' workers and wasting so much CPU time.
BTW, which are nicest work units? 8-)
BBTW, when is Alex coming out with the next improved worker?

What BTTB is doing is a joke and wasteful. It is cheating which ever way you want to look at it. I guess we should just ignore his machines when looking at the top machines.
You crunch what you get given.

I have a hard time calling what BttB appears to be doing "cheating."
"Gaming the system" seems more appropriate.
I'm not sure why he bothers, but it doesn't matter much to me.

Yeah, that is cheating. He's likely to get banned by the seti team for doing that.

I thought this post was going to be about George Thorogood.
