Just thought I would bring it to everyones attention that http://www.colorwarepc.com is selling the new G5 iMacs in a bunch of colors.
Looks like they are charging about $350 dollars, and it seems to be a "buy the whole thing" only, with no option of sending in a recently purchased iMac.
Seems a little pricey to me...after all, they charge $399 for a Powerbook, which to me seems like more work. With the demonstrations of how easy it is to take apart an iMac, doesn't seem like a $350 job to me.
Anyway, for those of you who don't like the white color, there ya go!

I'd like to see you be able to do that professional of a job on your own.
Also, Colorware includes their own one year warranty to cover the product since the manufacturers warranty is voided.

$350.00 may seem like a lot but it won't if you try and paint that beauty on your own and make the mistake by damaging the LCD or getting paint on it. Why would anyone in their right mind want to take the risk and paint over that shiny surface themselves, it will look like $hit.

I think what colorware is doing is awesome. There is nothing wrong with companies like them. They are supporting the mac community and offering consumers a choice.

I wish they had real pictures instead of renderings, their iPods look cheesy, but I remember seeing a Powerbook that was off the hook in a blue!

Yes, I agree. However, if you want to see actual, hi-res pics, go to http://www.colorwarepc.com/hi_def/powerbook.htm
Only for red and black in Powerbooks though. No iMacs. It should show you the quality of the job, though.

I calculate $455 more, not $350. What are you smoking?

Though I would not spend that kind of money on personalization, I have to agree that they do a very good job.
Just look at the speaker's meshed grill and the ports on the powerbook. They must take the whole powerbook apart to do the painting, then put it back. And the label on the iPod is still clearly in white.

Agreed. The steel looks great. When spending this much just to have a specifically painted color you need to get the right color or the resale value drops dramatically.

Resale value will drop if it is painted at all.
