I cannot seem to move vectors from Fireworks to Illustrator, both from the same CS4 Design Suite.

Is there any way to do this? Am I missing something really obvious?

I try copy in Fireworks, then paste into Illustrator, but that results in a bitmap in Illustrator.
I try copy as paths in Fireworks, then paste into Illustrator, but nothing happens at all.
I export from Fireworks to Illustrator 8, but the import screws up unless I modify some of the geometry in the Fireworks file... though that's what I've done for now.

It should be easier than this... what am I missing?

Do you mean "copy as vectors"? That works for me, unless there is something special about your paths that my 5-second test doesn't have... post a file?

Weird they do it that way. Especially odd since copying vectors from photoshop into illustrator doesn't need a special menu item. You'd expect some kind of "paste as: paths, bitmap, smart object" type of alert.

Yeah, disappointed that it didn't have multiple types of paste... I guess I worked around it, but in a strange manner. Seems that it's my file... at least it's working for other people, good enough for me for now.
