I don't think that's Apple's fault.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

Re: the original topic, 10.1.4 is fine. Improves a couple of things that needed fixing and didn't break anything. A success as far as I'm concerned and much better than 10.1.3, which introduced several new bugs.

Seems just as good as 10.1.3 plus my iDisk connects faster under 10.1.4.

Still wish I could get Chimera 0.2.2 to work though!

it updates the darwin kernel version to 5.4, so you might wanna consider it.

also, sherlock has improved functionality..... so get it already.

Fixes the modem hang. That's a pretty big deal for modem users.

No complaints, but I was hoping for a bug fix for that pesky full-screen/speakable items problem.

GOOD: Sherlock is approximately 5 times the speed it used to be.

BAD: I can no longer print to an Epson SC 900 (ethernet-connected), even after re-installing the drivers.

Cool update! I'm all for file system speed improvements - that ought to speed up the whole OS to at least some degree.

I have to say, that 10.1.4 introduced some nasty system instabilities, on both my iMac and the iBook of my girlfriend. When the Mac is up for several hours it just freezes when logging in, not displaying the menulings Sad, but just happend once, so here's hope, that I had a bad day yesterday!

No big differences here.

Sherlock doesn't lock-up anymore, which is nice.
iTools seems a bit fatser, but still to slow.

File system improvements are real. Ne more Spinning Pizza when doing file> open... or save as... Also, get info on multiple files used to take a while, or not work. Now it's instantaneous. Sherlock benefits from these improvements, as does emptying the trash. Seems just as stable as it was to me.

Doesn't launch apps or run programs faster, but the speed improvements listed above really do make a difference in a daily work routine. Pretty good update, if you ask me.

It's a 'thumbs up' update. It was small, but good.

i wonder if the file system speed ups we are seeing are a result of the hiring of dominic (from be)? that could mean _very_ good things in the future!

.1.4 seamed to have worked out some timing issues with my tibook 667, it runs so much smoother now. although im running .1.5 so i cant say any more. but i definately think it had something to do with the HD access.

PPP works better for me (no more hangs after the 3rd for 4th connect).

I didn't really see Sherlock or other file system improvements.

Selecting the startup disk is faster.

Booting into single user mode using command-S at startup no longer works on my machine (scrolling screens of error messages)...

So it's a mixed bag.

if you get rid of the dockling and don't hot plug/unplug your alcatel modem it should work fine - haven't had one single kp since doing this

10.1.4 - sherlock improvement enough to make it worth upgrading - still have a problem with icons in my HD folder being messed up every time i log in
