Under OS X 10.2.1 on my network, it takes 20 seconds after selecting File... Print... before I can click OK on the Print dialog box. On a colleague's machine, it's about 3 seconds. I know which I prefer.

'Trash the printing prefs' I thought, but I don't know (a) if this is an appropriate strategy or (b) exactly what I would trash.

In ~/Library/Preferences, there is

com.apple.print.PrintCenter.plist

but when I look at this, it doesn't 'feel' to me like trashing this would be the solution.

Any ideas? Wise words warmly welcomed.

The best strategy for me has been to delete the printers in Print Center and also make sure they're gone here: http://127.0.0.1:631/

Then simply add them back.

The latter is for 10.2 only.
