I'm not going to see it. Doesn't seem like an interesting film.

Neither worth my time nor money.
Kudos to the marketing campaign though.

I also chuckled several times.

I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

This is probably too good to be true, but the rumor is the movie is a big enough news story even people in the PRK are hearing about it... and now they want to see it.

So maybe cutting off their internet wasn't such a great move.

That would be too dangerous a way of getting it, even if you could.
IIUC, movies get smuggled in. Either on DVDs or thumb drives.

Since most of our favorite shows are on mid-season hiatus and we had exhausted every other rental we were interested in over holiday vacation ... there was literally no other new releases that piqued our interest. So we rented The Interview just for sh*ts and grins. It was amusing in an "campy, over-the-top" kind of way. Still probably not a good idea to do a comedy about the assassination of a sitting world leader. A thinly-veiled "fictional" country would have made more sense. In any event, it was definitely no match for Sharknado!

Watched it. Rogan made another steaming pile of sh*t with his boy toy Franco. Whoever told them they could act needs to be kicked in the crotch, hard. This was so bad (and not in the entertaining way) they make Adam Sandler look good. I hope it/they get a Razzie, but probably won't because of Freedom Fries and puppies.

Regardless of what really happened with the hack / threats, this movie would have flopped terribly at the box office.
The added publicity from the hack, in conjunction with an immediate online release was the best possible way to salvage a shitty movie.

Not very funny, IMO. Rogen can be funny, but he wasn't here, and Franco was just being over the top. He is actually a quite decent actor when he puts his mind to it - 127 Hours comes to mind, and he was OK in the Spider-Man movies as well - but these comedies where he and Rogen and friends just make a movie seemingly as an excuse to party are not his best work.

The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

Maybe there's truth to the rumors that Sony knew it would be such a money-draining sinkfest that they planned the whole thing and hoped to cash-in on boosted digital purchases/rentals and DVD sales?
I've heard that speculation, but it wouldn't explain the leaked email embarrassment, SSN numbers, and expense reports.
