I tried the demo on 360 - seemed fun enough.

I got the demo for my PC. Major technical problems with it and Vista. Had to choose between either crap res or no sound. Crap res won, obviously. Heard they were resolved with the game though. Oddly enough, I haven't picked it up yet. I seriously should.

I'd say it's more of an experience than "fun."

It was OK, but it gold old pretty fast. Some of the puzzles were really obscure, you're not going to get through the game without looking up a walkthrough for some parts.

The story for the game is fun, but the game play is, well, normal. After a while it's not unlike playing any other FPS out there. Meh.

If there is any chance of the gaming coming to OS X, it'll be in the form of Cider.

Wasn't this based on UT2007, so it should be a simple port?

I'm a good deal of the way through the game and I had to look up one thing, in the early going. Otherwise, I've found it constantly intriguing and the atmosphere is excellent.

I would think that if you had a machine that could play it to begin with means you have an intel mac so you can just use bootcamp and save yourself the wait.

I got it for PC when it was on sale for $5 on Steam and played it once for about an hour. Didn't get my attention at all which was pretty disappointing after all the hype and excitement I have heard/read about it. Luckily, I have Left 4 Dead now

The game is UT3, not UT2007.

But yes, it's based on the same engine, the Unreal Engine 3 (or UE3). Lots of games are based on it. BioShock, Gears of War, and tons of others.

I'd say get it for Xbox 360 or PS3 if you can, because the PC version is kinda buggy. I had audio problems where it would try to play 5.1 sound out of 2.1 speakers, thus causing any sound that would normally be played through the center channel to just not play. I did fix it, but I doubt porting it would remove any bugs. Plus, when the Mac version comes out, it'll probably be selling for $50. The Windows version is selling for $10-$20.

The start of mac games based upon the unreal 3 engine was *supposed* to be Unreal Tournament III (or UT2007, if you prefer). However, The game was announced by the publisher Macsoft back in December of 2007. Since then there has been nothing but the sound of crickets.

In theory, once the work on UT3 is completed and released the code required for the engine could be applied to the assortment of other popular games (listed previously) based upon the same unreal engine.

There is much speculation and debate on the delay...to the tune of 18 pages over on Inside Mac Games.

I booted my iMac into Xp to play it. It was technically stunning.... but Deus Ex was still a much much MUCH better game.

From my experiences, ports for OS X are buggy, and horrible. Hence, I just use Bootcamp and XP for gaming.

Still no news on BioShock for OS X. Or UT3 - which is getting the really sweet Titan Pack update for free on PS3 and PC; sorry Xbox people - for OS X, which was announced much farther back. And Gears of War was just lost.

But here's more news for anybody who actually only games on their Mac.
