I think it's awesome that y'all switched the encoding to UTF-8, seriously. But you might like to know that it's screwed up all the non-ASCII characters from before, such as bullets in bulleted lists and the é in Exposé. They show up as a diamond with a ? inside it. I'm all for UTF-8, so hopefully this is easily fixable.

Just to be clear, new non-ASCII characters work fine (in fact, better than before). It's old ones that are stored from when the site was ISO-Latin that freak out. If you want to see it, take a look at this thread.

Oh man, I thought it was another Tiger problem! Is this gonna be a live-with-it thing, or is there a way to fix the old entries?

You can always temporarily change that browser window's text encoding back to ISO Latin 1.

I assume you will let people whose user names include accented characters change their name to correct the display of said accented character under UTF-8 (Oisin comes to mind)...

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

You might want to change the copyright strap at the bottom of each page:

It should work now. Can you paste in the character you want? I'll then put it into your username.

Missed this post!!!

Ω also known as option z.

If names can be 1 letter long I would also prefer the underscores dropped as well (3 letter minimum in the old system)

I'll see what it lets me do.

I asked about the omega since Unicode has upper- and lowercase omegas.

Yeah, but who wants "ω" as their name? Unless you're a fan of these folks, I guess...and are willing to admit it.

Fixed now. It took me a while to find where in the templates it's buried! (Each notice was coming from a different place.)
