I'm curious, as to who's choosing the 32GB iPhone over the 16GB.

I currently have the 16GB and I decided to upgrade, it would cost me 399 for the 16 and 499 for the 32. I'm not sure how much I'd be able to sell my 16GB 3G for but it would offset the cost somewhat.

I think the decision may be a little easier for people who are eligible for the rebated price of 199/299. I can see picking up the 32GB for that.

Thoughts/opinions?

I would pick the bigger one.

Looking back to all my years of computer and gadget purchases, I never regretted picking the max. memory options.
It will always come to good use.

I'm thinking about getting the 32GB, I'm on a few years old crappy and beatup Nokia and getting the 32GB would allow me to give my iPod to my girlfriend...

I'm also going with the 32gb; when I travel I like to put multiple movies on the phone for the plane, and I also use apple's video out thing (that was sold for ipods a few years ago, but works fine with my iphone). So I can catch up on tv shows and whatnot.

I would think that eventually, also, the 32gb would have a higher resale value.

I just ordered the 16gb... It's adequate enough for me. I don't have a ton of movies or anything.. and I already store all of my music on my 80gig iPod Classic. If I wasn't paying to break my Verizon contract, I probably would've opted for the 32gig.. oh well

I've wanted 32GB ever since I wanted an iPhone. I got the 16GB 3G and immediately filled it to the rim. I'll be looking forward to upgrading to a 32GB 3G S later this year.

I opted to take the plunge and ordered the 32GB. The reasons are similar to what has already been posted, but I also looked how much space I have left in my 16gb and its between 4 and 5 gb. Taking videos, more music and 3mp pictures will eat into that pretty quickly.

The issue I have is the "upgrade" price, its hard to swallow, 500 bucks for a phone but the apps I use, such as logmein will benefit from the faster speed and the improved camera/video capability are the reasons why I took the plunge.

Since it hadn't shipped, if apple-lust wears off, I can always cancel the order but I figured I'd better get into the virtual line and hopefully I'll have the phone next week.

I plan on the 32gb this time around to replace my 1st gen 4gb iPhone. I've not had a problem with only having 4gb but I've known that 32gb is my sweet spot since the iPhone first came out. I have about 16 or 17gb of music that I care about, plus a couple gigs of video. 4, 8, or 16 would all be too small to carry it all and leave room for mail, photos, apps and OS which means I'd have to pick and chose a fraction of my stuff to carry at any given time. 32gb means I can carry all of it all the time so it makes sense to go large now whereas it really didn't before -- previously the larger size was more expensive but still not big enough. The 32 is finally big enough to be worth it.

I'm buying the 32GB in less than a month, I just cancelled my phone contract and I am really excited!

So glad to be getting rid of this Sony W910i mess that crashes every two minutes.

Got my 32GB 3GS on order - will be here on June 19th (I hope Fedex doesn't screw that up)... I've learned long ago, always get he most capacity you can... I had the original iPhone in 8GB (that was the largest at the time) and it served well for almost 2 years... until it met an untimely death a couple months ago... Been in withdrawal ever since, but knowing the 3GS was on the horizon, I held out on getting 3G or even getting my 1st gen fixed for $200 by Apple... glad I did... The fact that most iTunes songs are AAC+ these days, the camera is 3.2 MP vs 2.0 and that the 3GS can take video, I know I'll need all the storage I can get...

I opted for the 32GB 3GS upgrading from a dying Motorola Razr. I went with the higher capacity because I've learned thru experience that while I may not need it right now I usually end up needing it later.

As an aside, I just got a notice this morning that it's in the pipeline and shipped from China. Cross fingers it doesn't get stuck in customs or end up in Connecticut instead of California.

Bought the 32GB 3G S yesterday, just have to wait until Friday now, when they will hopefully have it for me at the store.

I went with the 32GB. I went with the 8GB original just about two years ago, too - I figgered I'd bite the bullet and go large this time as well.

BTW, my original tracking showed delivery scheduled for the 18th, and I'm glad I didn't get excited. Here's what I got just now:

LOUISVILLE,
KY, US 06/17/2009 2:05 A.M. THE RECEIVER REQUESTED A HOLD FOR A FUTURE DELIVERY DATE. UPS WILL ATTEMPT DELIVERY ON DATE REQUESTED

I presume the date requested would be the 19th. Sneaky bastards!

Got my 32GB iPhone 3G S, very nice. My first iPhone though, so I'm not sure I realise just how great it is to other users.

/obsessed with Fieldrunners.

Anyone know any other great games?

I'm loving my 3GS too - the iPhone is nearly perfect for my needs...

As for games, I'm enjoying Defender Chronicles right now. And Platypus. And Knights Onrush.

I had reserved my phone with 32GB. When I got to the store I decided I didn't need 32GB and instead wanted the 16GB. Because they only had enough for the reservations I couldn't change my order and would have had to wait "a few days" to get the 16. So ... I got the 32GB. As of now I'm using about 7GB. (sigh)

I'm sure over time it'll be well used though.

So ... to answer your question: If I had it to do over I'd have gotten the 16GB version.

I was planning on getting the 16GB. After I saw the new camera with video, I'm leaning toward a 32GB to record video. I always carry my phone around, but hardly ever carry a camera.

If you are going to be doing a lot of videos then the 32GB is a good idea. Video does take a lot of storage.

I wouldn't be surprised if in a year from now you'll be extremely happy you couldn't switch back to the 16 GB while standing in line. I managed to put so much more on my iPhone after I initially got it. Just wait till you realize how much you can do on it.

You are probably right. I did manage to get along ok on my 8GB 2G iPhone, but then again, I didn't have much of a choice, did I?

I any event, I own the 32GB now so I'll do my best to enjoy it!
