Hey admins, stop poking the hampstor with a stick through the cage bars. It isn't very nice.

This only happens when I attempt to access the forums using that URL. http//forums.macnn.com/community seems to work fine, as do the other that designate a sub forum.

I got that page while in Firefox so I was rather bemused to see an IE looking error page.

On a more important note, the database does need serious attention, the time stamps are wrong or being delayed, hence posts showing up in the wrong order, e.g. a reply at the beginning of the thread and the OP halfway down.

Perhaps it's hampstor mating season and ours is "preoccupied"?

I've had some database glitches lately, too. Perhaps someone was feeding the hampstor with cheap grass?

What's up with these database errors. I was getting a log of them yesterday.

Any word on the cause and/or solution?

Well it must have been almost a year ago that the database crashed, we're probably due for another

I wish the admins would chime here and say what's the scoop - even if they don't have a solution yet.

When I got one of those I looked at the source and there was a comment about a partition being filled, IIRC.

That picture of Rickey Henderson in rickey939's signature looks a little different, maybe a little more blue... I guess the MacNN database did that.

are you getting the same error as posted above?
or do you mean the image resizing isn't working (we're working on the resizing)

Today, this is all as slow as a hampstor who's not being pursued by a cat.

Need more cat pics to frighten hampstor with.
Been inclined to wander... off the beaten track.

Posts are still out of order.

Edit: Apparently the hampstor learned a new trick. Every once in a while when I view a thread all the text on the entire page has been reformatted into something around size 30 of the same font.

The hampstor also screws up the time stamp. Loads of fun responding to posts that will be posted in the future

If your landlord happens to come by, do not under any circumstances mention that you're naked.

Unless they make sugar free altoids... then you might get more than you bargained for.

They do make sugar-free Altoids. Though I'm not sure what that means.

I'm usually loathe to do this, but curiosity killed the cat. I've been meandering around the forums this morning, and for some reason I keep getting a vBulletin Database error when i try and see one thread.

http://forums.macnn.com/95/political...our-grass-cut/

Usually I'd assume its a problem on my side, but it's the only thread that won't load. Is it possible it's borked somehow?

It's a oral sex thing. And sugar and oral sex with girls usually don't mix well.

I only just now managed to get on the forums at all—for the past two days, I’ve been getting time-outs and database errors (those two threads above still give me time-outs) for the entire site.

It looks like it.

It's either time for a spring cleaning or a database crash.
