It's not out for phones yet. Touches to the back of the line.

Well, has the 2.0 software even been released straight up from Apple for the iPhone? I haven't checked, but isn't the only method finding it on the server?

Yeah, it isn't even officially out for iPhone. It's only out because someone was snooping around Apple's XML files.

It's supposed to be out right now, can anyone find out how much it costs in the UK? Is it £5?

Sounds like the $10 update includes the $20 update from January. Sure glad I didn't spill $20 back in January just to pay another $10 for it now ...

Here is a link to the 2.0 software for iPod touch. This is just bug fixes, sort of like the free version of 1.1.3 was. Very slow download.

Uh, I don't think so. With 2.0 you have access to the App Store plus a bunch of other cool stuff. Unfortunately, I can't get it right now because of the servers being swamped.

OK, so you can't load any of the apps on the App Store.

Did you get your 2.0 through iTunes?

No, through the link I posted. iTunes is showing that I have an update that I can pay for, but when I click "Learn More" it gives me the "Store not available" message.

Now when I got to the link from the Apple site, it just brings up my iTunes account information. What the heck?

Well that explains why you think 2.0 is just a bug fix

Umm, I don't think 2.0 is just a bug fix. Read my post. I said the 2.0 that I linked to was just 2.0 without the App Store.

For grins, after iPhone owners started getting though, I checked my link again. It is much faster (600kbps) and it has the full 2.0. It still doesn't show up on iTunes, but there it is, in all its glory. Sync your iPod before you do this, updating completely erases it.

Alright. The version that I originally linked to was just 2.0 without the App Store. I had bug fixes and new menus and such, but no App Store. Make sense?

Ok so I tried the link above... doesn't work. I'd like to update my ipod touch to support multiple calenders in ical. Any one got an idea?
Backups are like guns and condoms. It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Supposedly you click the link on this page, but it looks like the iTunes store is hosed.

I am glad I didn't move up from the jailbroken software until the App Store opened that $20 looks like it really was nothing but another early adoption tax. I hope people who defended it think it was worth it.

As of 1:25am EST I've had a successful download of the iPod Touch 2.0 upgrade, and as of 1:51am a successful update! I've detailed the proceedings, if anyone is interested, here for the download and here for the install both with screenshots, hope everyone else's upgrade goes well.

Successfully upgraded about 12:30 am. Did it through iTunes, and I think it was just a matter of waiting until the load on Apple's servers dropped to a manageable level.

I'm installing it now on my Air. 10 bucks, what the hell. Just something else for me to play with.
