I hereby retract my previous post expressing 'Thanks' to NewsFactor.

The New "page" is back again...

I now formally re-adopt my previous view that NF are doing their best to kill MacNN with the new design....the jubilant response given to the 'fleeting' appearance of the old page, shows just how wrong NF was / is, in changing the design....

(I fear that the thought of NF having to swallow their pride could be an issue here...)

If change is EVOLUTION , there is no problem....change for changes sake, well thats another issue..

I had started a new topic "Wow, old look is back" in the Suggestions section, making big wow comments and being so thankful, even suggesting next liftover will be more accurate to our needs and more welcomed. I feel so stupid now. Like they play with our nerves and think we won't mind. HEY, WE DO! This is enough. I think they really don't have a clue of what they're doing.

I just checked the front page again and said **** in front of my kid sister. However there's a link for the classic version, that keeps the color scheme and design but reverts the layout to the old version. Anyway, I'm amazed at the reaction the old look got. Hopefully it will come back. I for one can't understand how they could do it in the 1st place without asking us.

This is one of the things I love about the mac community. Just that, it's a community.

Give it back to us. NOW.

This classic version link still isn't good enough. Just changes the font and text display. The ads in the middle are anoying... and ergonomically stupid. Not even interesting. If all the ads they can sell is this, it sure ain't worth making us mad. And that's the main complaint of the new look. When this site has no more traffic, maybe they'll make a smart move... but too late!

I just went to the main page and was a bit confused. It's back to the old way. I haven't looked for a few days so it was kinda a shock. Now reading this thread, it sounds like it went to the old, blue one, then back to the new, white one, and now it's back to the old, blue one again?!

What's going on?

There are a host of other changes with NFN as well and I wil post a message later today. In meanwhile, I ask that you refrain from making *any* beligerent or deragatory comments regarding NFN, the partership. Just enjoy the news and the design

I'll me trying to get all of our pages up in a few hours. Please be kind and help us restore MacNN to its former glory.

It is a simple concept. You don't own the site. You don't pay the bills. Therefore you don't get a vote.

Since things have changed back and forth so rapidly I am waiting to see what happens.

Actually, we do pay the bills.

Advertisers pay MacNN to show ads that *we* see. If we didn't see the ads, the Advertisers wouldn't pay MacNN, and we wouldn't have a MacNN.

I disagree wholeheartedly with the 'poo' idea, but if you want, ask NF to keep "themes" like somebody said in this fourm. I'll keep old, you keep new, we read the same news, all happy.

Wow, just woke up, and for a second there I thought I really needed to put my glasses on. The old site is back. Yes. Sweet. No more useless headlines to get in the way. No more blindingly white background. I'm glad they worked with us on this. They tried a change, we didn't like it, and they went back. How else were they going to try a new design out on us? The lack of a warning was bad, sure, but hey we got our site back. And the NF Response thing, well....don't get me started on that. I'm willing to forgive. Thanks NFN, for listening to your readers concerns.

Count me in as one of those "Oldies But Goodies" kind of guys; I'm happy the old site is back. Honestly, I wasn't that horrified by the new site, but I do like the old one better.

What I was very unhappy with was the lack of news updates, but after that first (horrific) day, things are actually (IMHO) better than before.

Having said all of that, I wouldn't mind seeing some changes to the layout and design, I'm just not exactly sure what those changes should be. (I'm a sysadmin geek, not a design guy.) Just my $0.02 worth.

it seriously warmed my heart when i clicked macnn and saw the old page back. i thought something was wrong for a sec and some weird cached page popped up instead. but i looked and all the dates are right. woo hoo! looking forward to monish's message later about all this.

As you might imagine, I'm very busy right now, but I do want to point out that an agreement has been reached under which complete ownership has been transferred back to me (again). Weekend updates should return beginning tomorrow as well as the comprehensive news, timely (!) news coverage as soon as I can get other things straightened out.

I am working on the more formal message, but I wanted to give you guys the heads up.
