Wow. That looks... stupid. I bet Uwe Boll is directing it. This guy directs all the f*cking stupid movies like House of the Dead and Alone in the Dark. He might as well have done Resident Evil because that movie was just as retarded.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is the scream at the end of the video straight out of Starcraft when a marine dies?

He is directing it from what I've heard.

Why anyone would sell him the rights to make a movie from their game is beyond me

Straight from the 70s. It's stock audio.

Hmmm.. I haven't seen Resident Evil, nor do I even remember seeing a trailer for it.

Just for fun, I came up with a list of movies based on video games. Let me know if I'm missing any...

- The Wizard
- Mortal Kombat
- Final Fantasy
- Tomb Raider
- Resident Evil
- Doom

There was also a Mario Brothers kids TV show.

I haven't even seen most of these movies, so perhaps I shouldn't judging a movie by its cover. Any of these decent, other than Resident Evil? If so, I'll retract my statement

Ok, I am gonna defend 'Final Fantasy' here, and state it is not based on any of the games. It is just part of the Franchise.

I hope they make a movie out of Super Mario Kart. Maybe Danny Devito could be toad, Arnold Swartznegger could be Bowser, John Goodman could be Mario, Rick Moranis could be Yoshi... hmmm....

I liked Resident Evil and Apocalypse OK. Nothing too especial, but I wasn't expecting them to be.

Alone in the Dark, however? I knew it was going to be a stupid movie, but I just didn't know how stupid. That is an hour and a half of my life I will never see again.

True, sadly. Although there are a few games that I think would make great movies...

RE1 was so incredibly boring and predictable that I fell asleep half way though. RE2 was even filmed all over my city and I still didn't want to see it.

No you guys are talking about movies that were made into video games NOT video games that were made into movies.

Star Wars and Goldeneye do not count.

Nothing to compare the two movies.

A hot chick in a cool movie made froma game... or some idiot that couldn't act his way out of a paper bag with his girlfriend in a movie that just plane SUCKED THE LIFE from all viewers.

I just said, I enjoyed the movie. It suprised me as I was expecting garbage, and was pleasently pleased. My wife even thought it was cool, and she's a tough one on movies.

Expectations play a big role in this.

I did also enjoy: Deep Blue Sea. Again, I had low expectations for it.

Actually, according to OwlBoy's statement, which got this whole "almost all such movies suck", they do count:

He mentions both, i.e., movies made from video games and vice versa.

LOL that is one of the weirdest statistics ive hever heard! What kind of person would bother conducting such a study?

Anyway about movies into games and games into movies... There are some cases where its just a movie concept that makes a good game. Actually theres at least one: KOTOR. Kick. Ass. Game. Even though the sequel sucked....

IIRC, Social Psychologists interested in understanding sexual behavior.

They actually determined that the screening of horror movies lead to sexual activity amongst teenagers. The reason provided to explain this phenomenon is that the women are very emotional and expressive about it, whilst their male counterpart show more reserve, which makes them look as strong, confident males. The result, including the hormonal imbalance, creates an opportunity, especially for young women already interested in that partner.
