In addition to having little free hard drive space, my wife's Late '08 MacBook still only has 2GB of RAM. It has the latest EFI firmware, and according to this and other online sources. it should be able to handle EIGHT GB. Before I spend the money and order that RAM, I'd like to hear from others here who might have done this. Did it work? Thanks!

I know that 6GB works with any recent OS. 8GB I have never seen myself, although I have also seen it widely reported with that "special" firmware.
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

Sounds good to me. I'm planning on ordering the RAM shortly. I'm also going to get a 4GB piece to add to my '07 iMac to bring it up to 6GB, widely reported to work just fine. I'm feeling adventurous.

I'm happy to report that my wife's Late 2008 MacBook really likes 8GB of RAM. Installing it was stupid easy, too. The machine is running like a top. That was fun!
