The current and previous ILSAC standards and API Service Categories are listed here. Vehicle owners should refer to their owner’s manuals before consulting these charts. Oils may have more than one performance level.
For automotive gasoline engines, the latest ILSAC standard or API Service Category includes the performance properties of each earlier category and can be used to service older engines where earlier category oils were recommended.

Damn. I'm still using GF-3. I can't believe ILSAC obsoleted it. Those money-grubbing bastards and their walled garden approach to forced upgrades. I guess my only recourse is to throw everything away and start over with Google Androil's open approach.

They'll let you build your own engine, but if you buy an OEM, don't expect to ever get the windshield wiper speed setting upgrade unless the local transport authority deigns to give you access.
They'd rather sell you a new car, though.

Actually, they won't let you build your own engine. They'll do the design work in house, but give it away for free and call it "open".
